Let's have a photo competition.
I appreciate that some of us may have struggled to rack up the riding this year (hey, but some have probably done more than ever) but I thought we'd give this a go anyway.
Here's the rules:
1/ Post up one picture on this thread*. The picture should be bikepacking related, so perhaps a bike, tent or something in there would be good. Remember that if you add your picture as an attachment and it's too large, people will need to scroll and that'll spoil the effect your after - better to spend a few minutes resizing eh.
2/ Submissions will close on Dec 24th and voting will then open.
3/ Voting will remain open until Jan 1st.
4/ I shall find something nice for the winner.
*You can change your submission as many times as you like but please delete the previous ones.

I'll get the ball rolling with one from my journey around Scotland this summer.

Yeah that was a fantastic caper MaM. But I'm going to have to go with the ultimate lockdown bikepacking experience, Emergency Rules were enabled at the time.

Re: Let's have a photo competition.
This isn't a great photo, but it's the one I value most from a four day trip in Sept on Dartmoor with Rich, Ben and Charlie, and Luke who helped with the routing and joined us for day 3. We were supposed to be in Spain, doing a week long trip around Spanish Lapland. But CVD19 stuffed that. Rich would not be put off though and drove us to look at different options. But with most of them closing down, and Dartmoor opening up, that was the go. I popped a post up asking for route help and Luke jumped in with masses of suggestions. Combine that with Rich's remarkable mapping ability, and we had a thing. This was about mates being together when the rare opportunity presented itself. Brilliant trip taken when we could.

I'll throw this in simply because it's one of my faves.

Quite possibly Bob but I was just along for the ride and mostly had no idea where I was. Chew was in charge that day.Climbing out of Sadgill in Longsleddale? (to Stu)

Re: Let's have a photo competition.
Some great shots already. I'm going to play I think.
On the inner loop of the HT550 is this famous crossing. I couldn't have been any more stubborn wanting to cross it. This is me, on the way out, retreating, the first time, I did try quite a few more times, each time, the water level mark on my jacket got higher and higher. Less than 10 steps in and it was nipple height. I'm just over 6ft, so it gives you some reference.
When I got home, I decided I should have tried to swim it to see how deep it really went.

I love Reg's and Allen's so far. Both cracking shots in their way.
Here's my favourite shot from a difficult year. It was taken on our first overnight trip after lockdown was lifted in July, so it was a pretty special moment for all that. Joe also looks a lot like his Dad in this photo, which is bitter-sweet as his dad died in June this year. He left a lot of himself behind though and I can really see him in Joe which is rather a precious and lovely thing.
This isn't really a competition entry for photographic merit or anything, just a photo from this year I wanted to share with you all.

Allen... you're nuts

Gonna keep swapping pictures about until I get a few 'cor blimeys'... The bike is there as is Karls house somewhere within about 5 miles radius. I make the mistake of always leaving out the bike from pics on my BPing trips. Must change that bad/good habit...
