Winter boots might be full of water by then.
Something that drains well might be better.
Suggest a 2 or 3 day ride for me...

So footwear choice will be based on weather forecast in reality, I think we go down that forded road too, but I've been down there before and know what to expect

It's very short lived ... in daylight it's just about rideable. 1/2 mile on there's another descent that's certainly ridable but will catch a few out in th dark*.Pushing down hill!!
*Again, it's fairly short.
May the bridges you burn light your way

It's ok, I'm not adverse to a bit of hike-a-bike. A recent outing involved pushing for several hundred metres of overhead bracken on the back of stanage. It was hilariously unridable!
And I think there's still bits of greenery jammed in the cassette (badge of honour!!)

Re: Suggest a 2 or 3 day ride for me...
If I recall, from the top of the big push after you leave Hafren, the next piece of forest should be rideable*. Once you cross the second bit of fireroad to begin the descent back down to the stream its best to keep to the right. A quick splash through the stream, grassy push and then its straight forward after that. As Steve says, 10 mins, topss8tannorm wrote:It's very short lived ... in daylight it's just about rideable. 1/2 mile on there's another descent that's certainly ridable but will catch a few out in th dark*.Pushing down hill!!

* by which, I mean less than 25% pushing

Right, so once it gets hike a bike and a bit horrible, once that's done you're almost back? I'll use that as motivation :?

I was actually thinking about the slightly rocky descent that drops down to the stream with the little bridge (nice flowy singletrack before it)*. The high drop on the LH side tends to put folk off ... I suppose if it's dark you won't see it
*comes after what Ian's described.

Oh, you mean the bit on the TCW?
Yes, darkness will probably help there. What you can't see etc...
