Singular Puffin - Kickstarter project

Post by Bearbonesnorm »

Something interesting on Kickstarter for anyone who fancies a Fat bike ... a £400 pledge will get you a Puffin F&F delivered by the end of Feb.

I don't get it, 7 backers and £2,550 = c.£364 each. I thought it was £400 for a pre-order :?

TBH, what's the difference between this on Kickstarter and Sam simply advertising a pre-order price (other than using a current-vogue platform - and I don't mean the frame)?

Just curious like. Would prefer a Swift to be honest as then I can fit the spare Alfine 29r wheel I've got. Silly blinkin money being asked by some folks (IMO) as they're £400 pre-order whilst Sam re-stocks at the mo. Might as well buy new than save c.£100.

6 for frames and 1 for a T-shirt is £2400 in frames and £20 in T-shirts. £2420 total

Leaves a shortfall of £130 which is £65 x 2 so I'm assuming two of the frame buyers are from abroad and paying the extra postage.

/end countdown theme ;)

As for using Kick starter? I guess it saves adding something to your main web page that might not happen, lets people see how it's progressing, generates a bit of hype, get views from people just looking for "bike" on there etc

1 backer for the t-shirt £20
6 backers for the Puffin £400 = £2400
Balance of £130 must mean that two backers are from overseas so pay an additional £65 postage.

Edit - Damn, too slow

I hope to get some video footage of the Puffin in use at the weekend, but in the meantime, here's a time lapse video of me putting mine together: http://vimeo.com/74972223
