I shall be riding up to the BNO in a couple of weeks so thought it was about time I got the maps out. I haven't got as far as an actual route because in all honesty I can't decide which direction to go ... NE over the Berwyns is a possible, so is E towards the midlands before turning north. Obviously there's lots of other options too but until I manage to narrow it down I won't be going anywhere.
So I'm open to suggestions if anyone has any or maybe I should just start riding and follow my nose
I rode a lot of Sustrans on my way back from Anglesey. I think as much out of curiosity about Sustrans as anything. Quiet roads and fairly enjoyable overall.
I also rode a bit of nannerch? Area, which is nice. I could plan you a fair amount of the peak section?

I'll take a proper look at Sustrans ... Newtown to Shrewsbury could be an option if I'm short on time.
Thank you for the Peak offer but born and bred so I reckon I'll manage
I think I recall Aidan saying the Mid-Wales section still needed a tweak here and there, so you could take a look at that on your way through
Lots of choice of route over Long Mynd, and then it's mainly lanes along Wenlock Edge and up to Cannock. While there are bridleways on Wenlock Edge, many of them aren't really very rideable due to a) mud and b) horse use.
Not sure about the first bit you'll need to ride but,
If you can hit the pennine bridleway anywhere south of chee dale you can turn right when you get to the Monsal trail. That will take you right to thornbridge.
Old railway so not too radical. Kind of cool though as you get to ride through the tunnels
Meant to be some nice riding in Macclesfield forest and Goyt valley is lovely. Leads you into Buxton nicely too.
I have a lump of route that would get you from Kinghton via Long Mynd and to Much Wenlock. It goes all the way to Barnt green but you wouldn't want to go that far East. Mike (yetiman) and I did Barnt Green to Church Stretton and back a few months ago. We planned the whole thing but ran out of time (and the weather turned) so stopped short at the Mynd.
Ive just ridden from home in Bromsgrove to the girlfriends in the lakes via the staff's and worcs canal over Cannock chase on the ewe route to the Tissington trail then up the PBW. The trail is hard going as been really wet and its so sandy n gritty. Very good trail though through the peaks n pennines. Worth a look?
