Sea to Summit thermal liners.

Post by boing boing »

Hi.

My sleeping bag has a recommended sleepzone +25 to 0. It is also labelled vComfort Limit 3 and RISK vExtreme -12. Basically out of the question for winter. I noticed in an outdoor shop recently the Sea to Summit Reactor Extreme Thermolite® Liner, claiming 'increases sleeping bag performance by up to 25°F (14°C)'.

This appears to be a cheap way to upgrade to winter performance. Internet reviews are poor and it looks like the performance claims are way too optimistic. However, has anyone any experience or opinions on this product?

Cheers.

Neil.

I've got one and do use it but only when it's very, very cold. I wouldn't believe the 14 degree claim. If I were looking for something to boost a bag rating I'd be much more inclined towards something like this.

Same kind of money, same kind of weight but a little more bulk. I think it would work much better in a much wider variety of situations.

Thermarest Tech Blanket. Incredibly versatile, there are few reasons not to own one of these. Paired with our new Fitted Sheets it makes an excellent warm-weather sleep option with bed-like comfort. Used alone, it allows you to sprinkle a little warmth into any moment of your adventurous life. Stuff sack included.
Lovely bit of marketing waffle there. Only the first sentence and the last actually you tell you anything useful

I know what you mean Ian ... the industry does tend to attract it a little.

There's a bit of a review here http://www.bushcraftuk.com/forum/showth ... 977&page=1 that might shed a little light for anyone who's interested.
