A friend wants to ride the Reiver Raid
She’s a very experienced mountaineer, new to bike packing, and a fairly experienced mountain biker.
Anyone ridden the Reiver Raid, any good?

I did most of it in a day. It wont occupy a fairly experienced mountain biker - large parts are on road, off road is mostly tame (although memory hazy about that) and did it on the 33mm CX bke. Parts seemed convoluted doubling back for little benefit. Suggest doing the South West and then staying out in the hills that way

Convoluted about sums it up when I looked at the route. I live there about and I’ve probably ridden most of it but not as a route. The way it goes through my village was nuts when I looked.

I stay in Gala and have done it a couple of times.
Yeah it's definitely tame and a bit convoluted with doubling back on itself. But also shows me some great wee spots to ride without my head just saying "tweed valley" or similar. I'd say it's worth a ride just to find some of the great wee bits it follows.
As said previously - doable as a day, but fun to camp out.

We did a very relaxed beginner route in the Dales over the weekend.
