Techno m8, sorry to bring you back to the 60s, but I'm following up on Joe Meek again.
If you haven't investigated him before, I think you'd find the whole history fascinating. I bought the definitive book about him a while ago:
https://www.abebooks.co.uk/book-search/ ... hn-repsch/. Kerist! £75 2nd-hand now! I seem to have a collector's item, bought it when it came out.
I have quite a large vinyl collection of his stuff, including a few rarities. He was arguably, no not arguably, he
was, the first independent engineer/producer. He was obsessed by new sounds, using all sorts of home-grown electronics. Bear in mind this was 60 years ago. This concept album I was on about, there were very few copies made and one would be worth a fortune now. A CD is available. Here's a review:
https://www.tinymixtapes.com/news/joe-m ... eration-of... "This release is a veritable time capsule, a reissue as a near-perfect distillation of Meek’s nameless genius, likely the closest we’ll ever get to his envisioned final product. I Hear a New World was a Sun Ra-style moment of interstellar clarity, a lassoing of the moon and stars put to magnetic tape that foresaw decades of psych music’s space worship. Sitting comfortably between Wilson’s SMiLE and the Forbidden Planet soundtrack, I Hear a New World is a seminal moment in both electronic music and avant-pop history; it’s about time we get to hear it in its unabridged, fully eccentric shape. This is something to be excited about".
In fact, I'm going to buy it right now, which I should have done when it came out (the re-issue, not the original 1960 one!!)
https://www.cherryred.co.uk/product/i-h ... cd-boxset/. It's a massive bargain with all the other stuff on there: Oram, Fagandini, Ray Cathode (google him too!), Ferrari etc. I think you have to buy that CD Techno old sparrow. The review and description on cherryred is worth a read in its own right. Oh, seems there's a vinyl version too, so I should have bought that instead for the proper experience. Still, no reason can't have both

.
OK, sorry, back to "young persons popular music".....
