More Welsh Wales.

Post by Bearbonesnorm »

I donned my professional guiding cap this weekend and set off into the Welsh hills with Ian (s.softie here), Maryke and Robin. Ian wanted to get his first trip under his belt and try some gear out and while Maryke and Robin are no strangers to my witty repartee or this part of Wales this would be their first overnight.

I won't bore you with too many details but (I think) a good weekend was had by all. There were some big old climbs endured, some very steep descents enjoyed and a slightly strange game of 'eye-spy' played on Sat night.

The cafe / gift shop at the station at Devils Bridge did us proud on Sunday morning ... although there's no breakfast on the menu, if you ask nicely they'll make you one and it'll be lovely. :)

Saturdays overnight spot. Here's the view from the 'annexe' which made a dry dining room ... you might not have wanted to sleep in it though.

My home for the evening ... shame I didn't bother to position the 'door' away from the wind and rain ;)

Maryke and Robin having clearly gotton the hang of this sleeping under a tarp lark.

*sorry about the pics my camera was misbehaving.

This just reminds me that I really need to get my arse back over to that neck of the woods. Spent 5 and a bit years living in Ponterwyd, and never did the area justice.
