Kettles?

I've just picked up a kettle for camp brewing duties and I'm wondering why I haven't had one before. The thing seems to have quite a bit going for it.

•Hard anodised aluminium, so good heat transfer.
•Usable 800ml capacity.
•Can fit all brewing kit and stove inside.
•Weighs 100g complete.
•Not really any harder to pack than a pot of the same capacity.
•Wide base so it'll suit a wide variety of stoves.
•£8.50.

Am I missing something, why aren't there more kettles in the woods? The only drawback I can think of is the fact you can't eat out of it but apart from that I don't see a drawback.

I have a small camping kettle but like you Stu never thought about using it for bike packing.

I'll have to check if I can get my stove etc inside it as not sure if the lid is big enough

I've a Trangia kettle that fits perfectly into their larger units but for bikepacking it has to be the baby Trangia.

you need to have a mug as well then. i normally carry one pot and make it do pot/ mug duties.

although last time i had coffee that tasted of chicken noodles

Nearly always do, I tend to find that if I drink from my pot, by the time the pots cool enough to drink from your brews not far from cold ... must make some sort of lip protection for the edge of my pot

I think it was Matt aka barra brith uses a charity bracelet/band thingy as a lip protector
