'For 2014 the Highland Trail will have an additional 120 mile loop north into Assynt. The new loop includes some wild and remote stretches on rugged trails but also some beautiful, quiet coast roads for some easier miles. A few small improvements to the current route brings the total distance for next year to 560 miles.'
I wonder if that means the wild and remote stretches on rugged trails weren't present this year?
Once the elation of finishing this year had passed, my next thought was that it needed to be longer, and in particular that it could do with more rugged and remote trails.

That's what I thought too Ian, longer and more remote sections, preferably with another long hike section....
