It’s taken years but I’ve decided I don’t like my Pickenflick. It’s a medium but feels too big. Can’t really offer a rational explanation other than we’re not compatible.
So what frame could I replace it with? Budget is £500ish and I quite fancy carbon.
To be fair my last road bike was a 10 speed Raleigh when I was 10. But....I’d be tempted to put the cash into some carbon rimmed exotic wheels for the cutty
You can pick up a 3T Exploro like frame and forks for £450 off AliExpress - you're looking for Carbonda, or Carbonmania or some such. Similarly, the On-One Space Chicken and Free Ranger frames and forks can be found there too. If you fancy niche, then Deng Fu are doing a full-sus gravel frame...

Salsa cutthroat with some skinny wheels?

This is actually the best and cheapest suggestion. Just been for a spin on it and I don't think I could improve the position or comfort. Just need to find some more gravelly Taylor tyres
Going to sell the Pickenflick as a full bike circa £700 after cleaning it up
You might not even need new wheels, I’m currently running a set of Vittoria Terreno,s
2.2” so perhaps a little bigger than you want but fast as hell on the road and dry stuff
Ive bewn using a pair of wtb byway 700x44 which are pretty good.
However last night i rode my lads bike with some 32mm G Ones on. That felt very speedy on the tarmac. Fast enough that id not bother with proper roady tyres given the option.
