Bothy bagging

Post by Taylor »

I had an unexpected night off as my parents had offered to have the kids and the wife was in London village so I took myself off for a night in "them thar hill's".
First up was locked. I had a fair idea it would be as its far to close to the road.

Next was this,

Not in bad nick, five rooms and two fire places. Upstairs isn't brilliant though.

The next was a shooting lodge which looked very smart but again locked.

Spot the bothy?

This was the one I was aiming for, I'd seen it a few months ago whilst reading somebody's blog and a bit of detective work led me to the location,

It is now my favourite bothy EVER.
All the mod cons,

Poo with a view.

The next day were some big hills. Some pushing, some swearing and some river riding(who needs a pack raft).

Above here was another shooting lodge. Locked.

Onwards and forever upwards I arrived at this bothy,

This one is well used and it shows compared to the others.

On my way down from the hills I passed another "bothy", well thats what it says on the map but in all honesty its a stone shelter with a wriggly tin roof for two to sit out the wind.

Had a fantastic blast down the edge of the fells and back to civilisation. I'd not seen a soul until then.
Fantastic night out.

I like a poo with a view.

When on holiday in the out herbrides, most piss stops were taken out of sight but due to nobody around looking out at the sea or over mountains/hills/glorious scenery. It was quite disappointing when I had to use a toilet again
