Overnighter in the Dulnain Glen.

Post by Gari »

A bit late but been busy riding the past few weeks, sorry....
I went for a short overnighter to try the new Genesis, I wanted to make sure she was ok with a load on and I could climb 32/32 as i have it st up as a 1x6 on a Hope SS wheel.
The bike was great, no problems at all with the load, handled very well and showed no bad habits, I am really liking the frame alot. It fits me really well, if a little low at the front, but reach etc is dead on I reckon.
The ride was from Glenmore (home) through Ryvoan pass and Nethy Bridge, and over to General Wades road via Boat of Gaten, over Sluggan bridge and then into Glen Dulnain for a camp at the bothy. Weaher was ok, with just enough breeze to keep the midges away.

Next morning the wind got up around 6.30, then rain around 7.00, but no matter, I only had about 25km to get back home, mainly down hill. I got pretty soaked and the brakes were cooking at the bottom of the infamous Burma road, could almost dry may gloves out on the discs! A quick stop in Aviemore for breakfast and then a gentle climb home. Jubbly.

Nice. Just keep finding them and writing them Gari. It will give me a "to do" list for when I move up in August.

That looks ace Gari - the Cairngorms is definitely on my 'to do' list this year.. a bit concerned about access during stalking in Sept/Oct. Any pointers on how this works (do I need to ring estates etc?).

A wee write-up on it here

There's a faster, more technical singletrack descent to the A9 from the top of the pass. Pretty obvious on the OS map and when you get there.

The main tracks are almost always open to walkers and cyclists. You can get updates here:
