BB 200 ...Times.

Post by Bearbonesnorm »

Okay, so here's what everyone did. There seems to be a consencous forming that this is the toughest event in the UK so well done for lining up. Just to recap, a black badge was awarded for any time under 24 hours, a blue for anything sub 28 hours and a smashing green badge for completing the course regardless of how long it took.

The fasted time was set by Kevin Roderick and Ian Barrington who turned in a time of 17h and 23m  Rob Bradley, Andrew Davies and Rob Wixey were determined to finish what they'd started and returned at 9.40pm Sunday, over 35 hours after they'd set off ... some proper spirit shown there. If you're hankering afer a badge or have a burning desire to change the colour of the badge you got this this year then ... same time, same place next year!

So pleased to have been part of the event.. As a relative noob amongst a distinguished field I picked up some great experience!!! The route Offered a bit of everything and tested me certainly!! Proper job!!!! Looking forward to the next one!

DNF this year, but lots learned - will be back with GPS & better maps next one for sure! Best ride I've done in years. Thanks to all who helped put this lost sheep back on the path.. and to Simon & Stuart (?) who confirmed that the ride North of the reservoirs was a good 'un - with moon behind me on the water & not soul or light in sight it was positively sublime.

Cheers All..

Hi Roy, it might have been Simon and I that you were thinking of? If it is we were very impressed with your determination to continue, glad you enjoyed the rest of the ride.

I'm looking forwards to trying your suggestions of using a lump of fudge to sweeten and milk(en) coffee rather than carrying messy sugar and milk powder this weekend, although I'll be camping an walking with my son rather than bikepacking!

Wednesday, and I am starting to feel human again. Gone are the aches and pains collected on the BB200. A massive thankyou to Stuart and Dee for sorting the route and the food. An amazing ride......Jane and I cannot wait to return next year.

See you all next year for the Mach and back!!!!

Thank you once again.......one of the most painfully brilliant things we have ever completed......

Back in Black next year!!!!

To my shame I ended up miles off route at Tregaron about 10am having done over 150k - I went up the forest climb after Strata Florida twice - missed the turn to the 'splashes' at 5am in the fog & rain and did a 20 k circle back to the bottom :x Then I missed the turn to the east at 52°11'52.40"N 3°52'14.31"W - my 50K map showed the parking to be on the route so I sailed blithely past!

Word of warning Nick - don't try it with 'bought' fudge it's made with all sorts of clag and so doesn't work. Real home made - sugar, vanilla essence, condensed milk, butter - on the other hand does. (and great to make too - particularly with kids helping :-))
