It's taken a while to get out and give my Contour camera a go, but last weekend's bivvy trip was a good opportunity weather-wise to try my hand at making a (short) video. It was good fun, and lots to learn/ refine yet for future attempts, but here's my first effort:

One of the things I learnt is that the batteries don't last very long. I shot about 30 mins of stuff with to-ing and fro-ing and the batteries were flat. Have a couple of spares ordered for subsequent trips...

Great video, very inspiring.
Re: First go at a bikepacking video
Shame it finished early. Looks good though.

Thanks chaps. Yeah, would like to have got some more evening shots and more in the morning. It was pretty misty though as you can see, but this might have added to the atmosphere.
Also need to rethink the helmet mount, just moves about too much for my liking. Going to look at a chest or shoulder mount I think.

I liked that, even the Fleetwood Mac was okay
Nice product placement, thank you.

May the bridges you burn light your way
Re: First go at a bikepacking video
cool video, liked the cattle grid shot never seen one done like that before
Wait for me...
Re: First go at a bikepacking video
I liked that. Couple of pointers;
When doing a wide shot try to go faster past the camera, I know you have to go set up back track and then ride past again but a little extra effort on the speed would be nice. Maybe add some drama by wheelying past or a quick endo.
Although tracking the middle of the cattle grid was nice a real man would have bunny hopped the whole grid. I might have even thrown a mid air 360 for a bit of showboating.

Stu, no problem
Fleetwood Mac wouldn't have made it if it wasn't for my sister in law buying me a cd for my birthday. I'd been thinking up different shots for a video for a while and I felt these two tracks suited it pretty well.
Barney, thanks. I liked how clouds go one way then bike the other.
Matt, thanks for the tips. I'll try harder next time :?

Nice one. Never sure I would have the patience to go back and forth setting up camera, so I enjoyed someone else doing it. Looked a nice trip.
