Virtual BAM ... you know you want to
i've just floated this idea with the Chilterns Boners and we reckon it's a goer.
As a collective, shall we all get together for a virtual BAM on Saturday 4 April, which is the "traditional" week for the Chilterns Spring Thing (which no one came to last year by the way, you fuckers ...)
i'm no techie, but I suspect someone one here can help with suggestions of how we can gather online on an agreed night and have a bit of banter.
Who's in?

Absolutely cracking idea Tim - all 1883 Boners should be in!
Snappy title?
Special rule for those who only have a window box to bivvy on rather than a garden? (assuming you're including a bivvy as part of the jape?)
Theme Tune: Up The Garden Path by Toy Dolls
?
To keep Rich3rd happy and emulate a proper Chilterns Bivvy, every contestant has to choose their favourite Profanisaurus entry and bring it 'along'?
You also need to bring some outrageously overpriced and pretentious food to simulate a Chilterns Xmas outing too?
I'm going out right now with a rotavator, hosepipe and sack of horse manure to ensure the garden has the requisite Chilterns Bivvy 'ambience' on the day.

Great, always fancied the Chilterns bivvy as it looks a right laugh but couldn't be bothered driving down all that way. So now I get to do it from my own back garden!

Once the usual Boner creativity gets going this could go viral (noooo-o-o-o, sorry sorry, BAD word choice
, but well meant).

Sorry Tim I was lead astray

An evening in the garden drinking beer in a tent sounds like a great idea at the moment, although a temporary divorce proceedings truce is in sway I could do with a night out.
I do however feel we might need some rules, if some are going to Bivvy in gardens... actually would it be wrong to nip out late and cycle a mile to the local woods? Although not not essential I could pop out late and be in the local woods without seeing a soul, technically sound but feels morally wrong for now.
Anyhow, great idea might bring my lad along at least he won’t moan about the distance

Re: Virtual BAM ... you know you want to
Lovely idea Tim.
I had considered a 'virtual bikepacking' thread / game where those who can be bothered go through the process of devising a route, compiling a kit list, etc, etc and then sharing their adventure with everyone else ... without ever actually going on it obviously.

May the bridges you burn light your way

Ha ha good one!
Re: Virtual BAM ... you know you want to
Not sure what’d be embarrassing about a video of me snoring which is what normally happens on a bivvy as soon as I put my head downBigdummySteve wrote: ↑Fri Mar 27, 2020 9:18 pmI wouldn’t , sounds like there could be embarrassing repercussions![]()
Re: Virtual BAM ... you know you want to
I like that idea, I thought about doing a virtual WRT plan based on last years grid refsBearbonesnorm wrote: ↑Fri Mar 27, 2020 9:09 pm Lovely idea Tim.

Re: Virtual BAM ... you know you want to
Well as I'm not on dad's taxi duties for the foreseeable future I'm going for BAW... "back garden camp a weekend".
Going to plan on using as many different tents, tarps and bivy bags. Shame I don't have trees in my garden as that rules the hammock out.

Re: Virtual BAM ... you know you want to
Hmmm....great idea, as you may have guessed I don't bivvy regularly or post up when I do
It's normally a holiday trip etc, however it's something I'd like to change, I'm in, I've got my
Tarp and bag but just sold my u/l mat ( uncomfortable) going old school back to foam
100% reliable but haven't got it yet so might try the lads hammock up

I’m definitely up for this. Although we have a streetlight in the alley next to our house so it’s like daylight 24 hours a day

Re: Virtual BAM ... you know you want to
Looks like we have A Thing.
Next step is to choose our "platform". Google Hangouts seems to work for My Very Active Girlfriend, but you can only have 10 on a video conference. If this takes off, that may not be quite enough. Or do we need video? Will just voice do?
And I second Reg's suggestion that we might support a charity, perhaps an organisation helping the elderly or vulnerable through this mess. Anyone have a favourite?
