WRT Postponed.
Hopefully everyone entered will have received an email that says -
Hello everyone,
I’m sure many of you were no doubt expecting this email at some point and I’m afraid that today’s the day.
Due to the current situation we’ve decided to postpone this years WRT until August. The new date is Aug 29th / 30th / 31st.
We appreciate that some of you may not be able to to attend over the August bank holiday, so if you’d like a refund please email and tell me. If you can do so within the next 14 days, that would be a great help. If you’re happy to attend on the new date, then there’s no need for you to do anything and your grid references will now be arriving on on August 1st.
This is something we really didn’t want to do but hopefully a postponement rather than a cancellation may provide us all with something to look forward to over what might be a tough summer.
Thank you,
Stuart

Re: WRT Postponed.
Shame but entirely reasonable. Golly, does this mean we'll have a dry(*) WRT for probably first time ever?

So if you're 51, H.O.T., I reckon we should have a return visit to Golden Sands Chippy (remember this will be the fifth anniversary of The GSC Experience) and toast you with a load of cans of Vimto.

Re: WRT Postponed.
OK a Vimto Bomb then
EDIT: Blimey somebody's beaten me to it. Might've known it'd be north of the border

Ahh bugger...
Inevitable I guess, but still bugger...
Wise decision given the outlook.
Gives me more time to enter!

Re: WRT Postponed.
Nooooo, I'll be away for this date, booked flights to cycle the Pamir Highway. I just hope I can get a Visa...
Re: WRT Postponed.
Nooooooo
I'm on my jollies.
Suppose I'll have to do an alternate date to keep up with my Welsh ride attendances.

I'm really surprised by peoples levels of confidence that they'll be travelling the world freely again by August

Re: WRT Postponed.
There's no year given for the new date, perhaps they're assuming it's August 2022.

No, not Wales Sean. When I say 'world' I do mean just that. Like Taylor and Rich, a good number have said they can't attend because they'll be on their holidays in sunny climes ... it's their confidence in that which surprises meThere's no year given for the new date, perhaps they're assuming it's August 2022.

Don’t want to be insensitive but if a WRT lite comes up as spare, can I go on a reserve list please?

But you're confident to give a revised date to put on WRT?Bearbonesnorm wrote: ↑Fri Mar 20, 2020 6:33 pmNo, not Wales Sean. When I say 'world' I do mean just that. Re: WRT Postponed.
A real shame but understood! I'm due to be leading some mountain biking in Bavaria at the end of August so I'll be missing this year - see you next year (or hopefully before!)

Re: WRT Postponed.
Yeah, I reckon by that point any travel restrictions that may come into force within the UK will be lifted but I'm not sure international travel will be back to normal. However, this is complete guesswork and the entire sh1tshow could go either wayBut you're confident to give a revised date to put on WRT?

Re: WRT Postponed.
What's the worst that could happen? The flights will be refunded or rearranged as will the accommodation.
Last Christmas we paid £2000 for flights alone (this was for six people), this Christmas is costing £321, same destination.
It's a gamble but if it pays off, I'm even happier at Christmas than I normally am (grumpy).
