Carbon or Titanium Handlebars

I've always found this a funny subject when it comes to mountain bikes...surely the tyres and/or any suspension will give more comfort?

Folk talk about flex in titanium, fair enough on the rear end of a hardtail, for handlebars though? I've always stuck with mid-weight stem and carbon bars for stiffness. I had considered a ti bar before, only so I wouldn't have to protect it from my bar bag rubbing though. The bar I'd looked at myself was made by Carver, which is similar to the Ragley Carnegie. Thomson's new one is nice, but even it is aimed at the rigid 29er market.

Yeah it's a battle between the Thomson bars, I like the fact I can flip the carbon bar and get a 8mm drop, plus its half the price, Spearfish front end is high even with a negative drop them.

I've both Ti and Carbon plus normal.

I can't tell the difference. TBH.

Invest in some comfortable Jones H Bars for touring, so you have many different positions for your hands.

Running 25.4mm rather than 31.8mm bars works for me ... shame they're getting harder to come by.

Jones won't look right on the bike, it's negative stem and flat.

I've a pair of the Thomson's. They ride no different to the Easton carbons they replaced and weight pretty much exactly double.

I wouldn't change them for anything though, they gorgeous!
