Our crowd migrated away from The Orbit once Sankeys and The Phoenix started proper hard techno nights in Manchester (Bugged Out & Havok). It was significantly closer to home and they could stay open a lot later.
I still dip my toe in very occasionally -maybe twice a year - but the recovery is a long and painful process these days
Someone kindly fixed my (phones) spelling mistake of the to the correct 'the'... I've also (in case The Queen* or Queeny or whatever she likes to be called at home) swapped the end bit (whats yer street name) to a more appropriate (for Queeny), 'wats your usual form of address'.
*I'm reliably informed (from when one if the mtb champs Oli went for some sort of appearance at The Castle) that she doesn't like mountain bikers (cos they scared her and her horse on one of their outings

Nice bit of techno chat

Since this chat of 90s rave clubs there was a club up your way Andy , in the center of Manchester think it was under a record shop with rooms like caves , desperately trying to rember the name but can’t is where we used to frequent before we started going to quadrant park in bootle both had decidedly moody atmosphere but were a mint night out (especially after a few doves) think that may explain why my heads a little twisted now
Is it somehow appropriate that one of the orbit logos was a penny farthing?
We could have a Bear bones techno division uniform:

Sad to see After Dark rotting away now, I live in Morley and drive past the front door every morning.
It was turned into an Italian restaurant which was weird, huge place with no atmosphere, kitchen was in the chill out room.
That didn’t last long at all and it soon closed again, the neighbouring building was converted into flats which then caught fire and it’s all been boarded up since.

K1100T - if you are/were into rocketry, did you ever come across a chap called Darren Longhorn? I used to work with him and he was well into it.
I knew Darren well, haven't seen him in years though! Small world!
I lacked the imagination to use anything other than my real name. It was my Mum’s choice originally, and I think she thought it wouldn’t get shortened, but it did. At school, and latterly in Wales (but nowhere else, strangely), people would call me “E”.
Great thread though; two revelations for me:
1. origin of FLV’s name. I always wondered.
2. Stu was born 17 years before tarmac was invented. Who knew?

That sounds well interesting Luke!
I had a massive nose ring and bright yellow green hair that glowed under ultraviolet light... what can I say?
That was before I took the Kings Shilling, but that’s another story
On the topic of water bottle in the back pocket (clubbing) I was a participant back in the mid/late 90's. Many a night in 051, Cream, Sankeys Soap (Stoke nights), Downton in Rhyl and I even met the Mrs in a local club in Colwyn Bay (that reads well) which was raided every weekend!
Maybe that was our early BB training for long nights and feeling cr@p next day!
