Montane Minimus waterproof. 215g with stuff sac on my scales for a size small. Quite impressed with that as the material feels reasnably robust and it has a proper mountain hood with volume adjuster. Be interesting to see how the shield+ fabric performs

The b*stardos at La Poste are refusing to bother to deliver a shiny new rear mech for my road bike - GRRR!!!!!

I've been tracking the package online since the middle of last week and they claim to have attempted delivery three times which is nonsense and now my (already lacking) training for the upcoming Etape du Tour is falling even further behind.

I'm getting twangs of deja-vu - it's my ill-fated Pyrenean trip all over again (my back and other factors conspiring to keep me from achieving anything this year) - buggeroo!

I've been using a Garmin Edge 500 for years now (think I have about 3 years of data now...) and I'm very happy with it.

I came across an Edge 200 on eBay for £34 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/330943792356 so I bought it. This will be used for purely navigational on bike purpose, and all for less money than the mount http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Garmin-010-11 ... 43bc3d47fe

Just require a bit of careful use with the dremel to add some pins in - I know how the courses works, and as it's a simpler gps I can bring up OS grid easier than I can on my edge 500. So all good for exploring.
I was considering some other devices - but the edge 200 is USB compliant and makes good use of the latest tech in a simple way, I did want something like an etrex or foretrax, but on balance this is better for what I want, and is unbeatable for the money really - I can always sell it on for what I paid for it once I fix the mounting solution, and I think is the lightest possible solution. USB battery charging will be easy peasy too.

Bargain me thinks - get some exploring done. I was using courses on my edge 500, but it then meant I couldn't see all my other cycling stats things - which I do actually like to have

Now I just have to get my arse into gear and actually go out and about more
