Anyone uo for a ride (or a Bivy) this weekend

As per title please if anyone is up for it...

Due to religious preferences there'll be no pubstops or alcohol or ladies (or girls or women... whatever the felame of the species that might be reading prefers to be called )...

So, basically if its a non bivi then probably sunday early and something of around 20 to 30 miles within a 1 hour distance from me (I'm in dewsbury but can drive out to get a good ride in with some good company ). I have a few routes to mind and hopefully Karl and Mart might bite...

If it turns out to be a bivy then I guess I can't do saturday as the missus has plans for me to do some chauffeur-ing but can make sunday day or eve. Happy to work around others. Obviously bring yer pot noodle (that reminds me I needs to grab some more gas canister tomoz)...

Company will hopefully be good and pace can be easily set by the most chilled out rider ... probably me.

So, anyone?

Very good question Dave and sorry for sounding so hardnosed myself. The line gets drawn where its socialising and formal. So for example, at home, when the ladies come over that ain't direct family (mum, sister, auntie etc etc) we dont have free mingling and its a rather formal situation... So at work for example (I'm a nurse and work with rather a few many ladies), it's all fine. But when it comes to play then I'm limited (boys play out with boys and the girls play with the girls) due to my Islam and I'm happy with that

Not sure if that answers your question. To use thw Bearbones200 (or any of the other events I enter with Mcmillan or some of the other hospice chsrity events or otherwise, its not a problem. Cos I'm not actually arranging to ride with any of the female species as such on a (sorry my poor vocab and deyslexia mixed mwans I cant think of thw right word) extracurricular activity level. Hence its all good for me... To add further to that for example, on the BB200 I rode with Cath for a few miles (actually it was probably a few metres as I dont think I managed to keep up for much longer) and it was all good as it was just in passing etc.

Let the record state also that at work, nor do I give hugs and kisses (or otherwise) to my female colleagues and we all get along just fine (with me being the one that doesn't attend any work parties or social events

Fair point Dave. But I live my life under restrictions of which I'm happy and feel that the payback in the next life will be well and truely worth it ... besides, didn't someone really smart once say "harshness is in the head of the beholder"...

I don't know what to say about that sentence, it's absolutely outrageous and breaches your code of professional conduct if you are really a nurse! You may just want to re-read 20.2, 20.3, 20.5 and 20.7. Oh, and before you ask, professionally my job role is described in my contract as 'Senior Nurse Manager'.

Replace 'ladies' with any other group in society and see what happens! Or would you be happy with a 'No Muslims' rule on events? Oh, and your explanation is nonsense too.

I haven't really been round here that long, but I do wonder if letting this sort of pseudo-religious bollox go unchallenged is one reason why the huge predominance of posters on internet forums are male?

You also need to remember that as member of a regulated profession he doesn't get to have totally 'private' beliefs. If he really is a nurse, he breached section 20.7 of his professional code of conduct, which tells us that we must uphold the reputation of the nursing profession and specifically that we ........

"make sure you do not express your personal beliefs (including political, religious or moral beliefs) to people in an inappropriate way"

So he could be reported to our regulatory body, in just the same way I could be if I organised a ride but specifically said "oh, and just to be clear I don't want any Asians on this ride, I'm sure you all understand." Asking if anyone wants to go on a ride, but not if you're a girl, expresses his religious and moral beliefs in an inappropriate way!

It also rings alarm bells in the context of his work, and providing equal care to both male and female patients.
