Right as you can see above having taken my lion off my bike ive found that it has eaten my crown steerer, the straps are also starting to wear through. Cant believe that the material has worn away the metal the one groove is nearly 1mm....i had covered them with electricians tape but this is obviously not tough enough. Has anyone else had this and can anyone recommend a cure as not sure what to use.
Might be best not to use it anymore at all, that looks like the type of alu that will flake away easy especaily with wet and gritty straps, buffers or spacers.
How long was the lion on there and was there a lot if grit ?
Wow! Worrying as I've been using mine in some nice gritty conditions this week. I've ridden forks with this much wear with no expensive dental bills as a result. Definitely worth protecting the fork with inner tube though. You might even find that the straps grip better on the rubber than the fork.
Always do the right thing... Just because it's the right thing to do.
defo won't be binning them i only replaced the crown n stations a yr ago...gonna try wrapping inner tube around it now then. Also think its wise to take it off after every ride to clean it incase of grit hmmmm bit late now though :?
