Cairngorms loop sept?

Re: Cairngorms loop sept?
Bailing from my May attempt I crossed the river by the posh Feshie bothy and went over to Tromie, where there's a new road being put in (past Lochan an t-Sluic) - there was one of those tracked vehicles up on the top.

Probably the same one. All of that land is part of the Cairngorms Connect project - a 200 year masterplan to re-wild a huge chunk of the CNPA. The BV is currently being used to transport saplings to where they need to be planted,

What do you mean "Hopefully"? You've got a top IT pro working on your tracking team!

Re: Cairngorms loop sept?
Finished in 29hr 52mins. Don't underestimate that route! Very very tired. Met Ian on route who was doing it more socially (retrospective a great idea). Been following Jon's tracker - looks like he's about 1 hour from the finish.
Here's my setup

Great ride Karl, have been watching the two of you over the weekend and you flew round - did you fit in a power nap? I'm willing Jon to the finish, whilst secretly hoping he doesn't do it quicker than me, as I have a feeling I'll never hear the end of it!
Re: Cairngorms loop sept?
Nice one Karl, good ride. Looking forward to the write up.
I'm hoping the poncho didn't need to make an appearance.....
Did you take a backpack? Not much stuff on your bike

Had a 20 min micro sleep (or power nap).
Steve, no poncho this time. All I took is all you see. Continuous improvement they call it in the trade, I call it "how much do you want to suffer?"

Finished at 1.07 am. That last 30k actually broke me. Stunning ride and not sure I'd get a better weekend. Stark contrast to last weekend. I'd upload some photos but I broke my phone (fell in one of the streams just before the bothy in Glenfeshie
)
Great effort Karl, that's Jimmy hardcore....

Well done Karl, well done Jon. Both tremendous efforts.
Thought i had it sussed ... start on a Friday mid afternoon and have Friday night in the Pine Marten, Saturday Night in the Old Bridge Inn and Sunday on a culinary cruise via Tomintoul for breakfast and Braemar for lunch.
Day 1 went according to plan, but with a tough headwind and an after-hours whisky session. Saturday was going so well. Was pacing myself and enjoying the weather. Aimed to get to the OBI for about 19:00 and was at the Feshie watershed when i noticed a wobble from my right pedal.
Stopped to investigate and found the carbon cranks cracked and the alloy pedal insert sticking out. It came out shortly after. Weighed up my options and decided to bail to Blair so as not to put anyone out. 5 hours later I arrived back at the car in the dark and freezing having pushed and one-pedalled down the Tilt.
As someone said "it's not going anywhere" so maybe one last try in a fortnight if I'm allowed.

The bike is a monster. If I had the legs it could climb a wall it's got that much traction! Roll on BB300

Jon, I kept checking in on your progress willing you on. Top effort!

Iain, sorry to hear about the cranks. It was great to meet you on the trail, sorry I wasn't very talkative, I was in race mode (well as close as I get to it
