Alpkit Delta

Post by Ben98 »

Hi there
I'm looking to get a light 2 man tent for my upcoming mountain marathon, (and bike packing) and I like the price and the weight of the delta, but I need to know how bad it really is before I spend, because from the description its terrible?
So, who has experience of it, in what weathers?
That is in advance

Alpkit painted quite a black picture when they described the tent ... in reality it's nowhere near as bad as you'd imagine. However, I would say that it's not quite as straightforward as something like a Lazer/Zephyros and takes a little more 'learning'.*

*In all fairness most Lazers you see pitched could also do with a helping hand too.

I'd agree with s8tannorm - it's very usable (as a tarptent - I've not tried it with the inner) once you've got used to the 'slight'y different way of getting it up. Absolute bargain in terms of materials tho.

I bought one on friday and it arrived today. I haven't had a chance to set it up yet but so far I'm pleased with it. A word of warning though, the pegs it comes with are ludicrous. They are about the size of cocktail sticks so either make sure you have some decent ones or order some alongside the tent. I bought the aluminium y-stakes which seem to be good.
Other than the pegs though, its really nice. The green is a lovely colour and it weighs very little and packs up small.

I did mention the pegs here: http://bearbonesbikepacking.blogspot.co ... ow-it.html

No worse than any other ultralight tent though and better than some ;)
