All of it between Aber and Borth?

Looking to have the option of adding a few more miles on so may try to add on few of the lite GRs as well

Rideable but with pushing bits. It would be a big push up Consti hill out of Aber. Coming down the other side there are about forty small steps (but you could head out of Aber over the golf course and down to Clarach through the woods). Fairly easy between Clarach and Wallog then some steep up and down pushing stuff in the last few miles. 4 or 5 stiles. I wouldn`t really consider it a practical way of getting from Aber to Borth by bike and haven't done it in the 15 years that I`ve lived here.

Thanks for your help lads, in the end forum member restlessnative kindly sent me a GPX file that Memory Map for Android had no problem opening. It was necessary to export the file in GPX format from Memory Map on a PC (or for older versions, export in whatever format is available then use a program like GPS utility to convert to GPX format).

The points agree with the Google Maps link kindly provided by forum member Fantasticmrmatt:

Just a heads up for riding along the beach.

Unless you immediately wash your bike with fresh water (or persistent Welsh rain) it very quickly decides to oxidise.

I'm struggling with a route this year. Last year I had paper maps but this year a friend has kindly lent me a Garmin Oregon 450. I can navigate the device OK but I'm struggling how to get a route planned on a computer loaded onto the Garmin. The device has the UK OS maps loaded, so I guess I just need a route overlayed.

Can anyone give me any advice on what website or application I need to use to create a route and save it for use on the Garmin. I'm not a total Luddite but it doesn't seem to easy to me.

Any advice or even better a gpx file of a route would be really appreciated.

Its easy to plot your route on bikeahike. Then save that file on your PC as a track. Then connect your Garmin and open the file called GPX. Copy the file across and you're done.

Thanks All, I like the look of the BikeHike website and I'd already checked it out. I couldn't find anyway of adding or finding the grid references Stu sent out. The OS explorer website is the only site I could get to recognise grid refs like SN872974.

Still puzzled :?

Try this;
http://gridreferencefinder.com/gmap.php#
You can plot all of the GR's on here and it'll show you where they all are. For another tip, plot your route in sections and either load them as seperate tracks or with a bit of geekness you can combine them into one track later :geek:

Thanks Chew. I've managed to get the grid refs saved in GetaMap. Now I've just got to work out how to get them out as gpx file or similar. Getting there slowly. Thanks

Have a look at this site:

http://wtp2.appspot.com/wheresthepath.htm

It lets you import/export GPX files, you can put the grid references in the search function and you can compile your own routes. It also tells you the gradients of the route. I also use the the Ordnance Survey mode on Bing Maps which does all of this except the grid references. It does let you zoom in to Explorer level though. They are both free ;) .

Thanks Rocklobstercat that site looks just the business, I'm on it.

Stu, I'll take you up on that offer, just incase I run into more trouble. Could you mail me at nathancrewAThotmailDOTcom. Thanks

Hey everyone,

I am wondering if someone with some local knowledge could help me pull together a decent route for the WRT lite. I am in no way fit enough to hit all check points, or to get to the seaside :( so i have picked up the 6 points i feel i could make, i have got them here:-
http://www.getamap.ordnancesurveyleisur ... pN7MiEmQw2 But i just can not seem to pull together any kind of a decent route, they all seem to end up with far too much road cycling or cycking through bits which just seem impossible to cycle through, which defeats the object. I have been trying for the past few days with no joy.

If you have a few spare moments to help it would be great, even if it is just a couple of suggestions of track/routes between 2 points to take in id be very grateful indeed! If you are able to help, then my email address is andrewDOTlowe83ATgmailDOTcom!

In the mean time it is back to the maps!

Thanks

Zog

I reckon about 40 miles is my max!

Edit:- chew has sent me through a route which certainly looks doable at 46 miles which should be interesting!

Hi Stu and gang,

First outing in this area of Wales and was wondering if any one could direct mail me some route ideas for the full WRT? It seems that it is coming out around 80 miles?
I have a planning meeting in the pub tomorrow night but it would be good to see what other people are considering and any highlights of the area?

Cheers!

Ok...it's good to know i'm not the only one struggling! About to spend another lunch hour looking at routes but if any body can share a route for the WRT lite, it would help (40 - 60 miles ish)...

I managed to get all the points in Google maps and getamap...but plotting the route is proving more difficult.. :(

Any help very much appreciated..... ;)
