Been looking for some new shorts for the America trip. Anything waterproof seems to be 3/4 length and i'm wary of becoming a bit sweaty on the hot days and having to ride with my fly's open to maintain circulation
Any recommendations for something which will be quick drying/reasonably waterproof?
My gore's are quite good.
I had two pairs of altura's which delaminated and both zip fell apart.
I think all waterproof will sweat to some degree though.
I've got some TLD Moto shorts which although not actually waterproof do keep you dry and whatever they're made of doesn't hold / absorb any water. No idea if you can still buy them though.
I picked up some Scott Helium Paclite shorts in a sale. They are nice and waterproof, and comfy, but I find the elastic cord grips don't hold so they tend to slip down a little. Also no pockets - keeps them simple but occasionally annoying.
I cut down some Lidl waterproof trousers into 3/4 shorts*. Lasted a couple of hundred miles of winter series races/rides before the seams seals started to peel (still ok). I've invested in some altutas for a better fit and pockets. WRT will likely be their first outing!
I had a look at the Aldi ones today. They are definitely "soft shell" and didn' t look to be any more than water-resistant. The pad is on a separate liner.
Been looking at some trek mates waterproof and supposedly breathable trousers with a view to cutting them down. £12.99 from tk max so may be worth the try.
