Buy a singlespeed they said. It'll be no bother they said. Minimum maintenance they said. Well, isn't, the rear hub is broken and the back wheel is buggered.

Don't want to spend crazy money..

Sorry to hear about that :-(

I've no personal experience, bit I think superstar components have a reasonable wheel for good money as a consideration.
