Re: Dales Divide.
Note that the butty van at Ribblehead doesn't sell cold water - she's not allowed to for H&S reasons. You can get a cuppa or can of pop there.
Other water points I can think of but don't know if they are on Chris' list.
There's an outside tap at The Angel in Hetton, it's next to the "Deliveries" sign.
The toilet block outside the castle at Castle Bolton has an outside tap.

Re: Dales Divide.
Cheers Bob. Is that the tap that says 'not drinking water' which I've drunk from before and been fine. I think this route passes lots more services than the YD300, but it wouldn't be a proper trip without a last minute panicwhitestone wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2019 10:09 pm The toilet block outside the castle at Castle Bolton has an outside tap.

Yes, but it's fine. That toilet block is private (no pun intended) belonging to the castle. The toilet blocks run by the national park have had their water taps shut off or removed.

Re: Dales Divide.
While hopefully not cursing it - it looks like great conditions are forecast, so good luck everyone.

Andy, I've put together a big list of resupply points, I'll send it to you.

Hi - Any chance you could send me a copy of your list as well, Thanks, Steve

Re: Dales Divide.
I've arrived at the campsite I'm staying at tonight. The weather here is amazing, the car said 23 deg on the way here. Based on this, and the forecast, I've removed just over 2lb of kit from my setup, stuff that was in the pile at home for weeks before I knew the forecast.
Let's hope the forecast is right as the removed kit includes the tarp.

Should be a good one.
Going to add another two water bottle cages on the bike.
Not looking forward to the 3:30 alarms tomorrow (yes, plural)
I’ll be the one at the back on the gravel bike with the sore arse.

Although luxurious by boner standards my Terra Nova Laser is the smallest tent here by some way, some people have got larger tents for their dogs to sleep in

I'd also wager I'm the only one here who's eaten his dinner out of the pot they cooked it in and doesn't have a table to sit at. At least I can have a shower tonight as it will be the last wash for a few days. My alarm is set for 05:45 as I've got to ride to the start, albeit only 4 miles, but need to allow time for 2 breakfasts before I set off

Good luck you lot! Great weather forecast for it, I'm a bit jealous (3.30am alarms notwithstanding)

Re: Dales Divide.
I've got a banging headache and my stomach feels weird so heading back. Just started with a cold as well (Been trying to avoid people at work this week - seems like I failed).
Anyway the bit of the route I did was nice, fast and flowing with some good views - well done Chris for planning a fantastic route.

Wonder if Alex will stop for long? 36 hrs straight is an adventure race standard I'm told (it's what Chris H always had in mind for HT550 'day' 1), but by 8 this evening, he's going to be tantalisingly close to finishing........
Re: Dales Divide.
Same here, set off feeling great, really enjoyed the route and feeling pretty good then past Scarborough I couldn't keep any food down and was out of energy. Dragged my tired behind to the lion to try and eat something substantial but couldn't keep that down either. Gutted.Karl wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2019 6:04 pm

Oh, I was doing the route as an ITT starting at Driffield.

Re: Dales Divide.
Must be something in the air. I'd felt sub standard since midday, threw up at Feizor, felt better but no energy. Camped near Malham Tarn. Slept for 10 hours and then had a pleasant ride back.
Oh well, it'll still be there.

Looks like Alex may keep moving through the night & get a sub 48hr finish..
