If you had ...
A couple of weeks, your bike and kit but no car and 'had' to stay within the UK, what would you do?
May the bridges you burn light your way

If it's cycling from home ,I've got the peaks or most places in Wales I can get to in a day for the peaks or 2 days bimbling to get to Wales ,a week riding around and nobbing about then bimble home ,if we include trains , probably upto kielder and over the border ,to be honest there is a chance of getting upto the dales and back but not sure how much time I'd have to explore once there

Re: If you had ...
Not prying, don't answer if it involves deportation orders, why is it compulsory to stay in the UK?
What time of year are you talking about?
I'd jump on a cheap flight to somewhere where getting all 4 seasons in one day isn't the norm.
There's a bed here that's unoccupied atm

Duncan I hope your not reading too much into Stu's recent threads about gay bars and swingers camping by offering up a place in the bed

Re: If you had ...
Go north.
I did the bottom bit of the Pennine Bridleway a couple of years ago but would like to do the rest of it. So I'd ride from home to the start of it and then carry on to Scotland :)

Re: If you had ...
Probably jump on the train with my walking boots and walk the Pembrokeshire Coast Path

We go out into the hills to lose ourselves, not to get lost. You are only lost if you need to be somewhere else and if you really need to be somewhere else then you're probably in the wrong place to begin with.
Re: If you had ...
I'd probably try and do some form of loop via the peak district, yorkshire dales and, if time, the lake district. If I could use a train, I'd head up to ambleside and then amble around the lakes and dales.
Re: If you had ...
Up to Scotland and ride best parts of the Central Belter and Wild About Argyll routes?

Re: If you had ...
'cheap flight to somewhere' - my worst (*) nightmare, sorry PB
(*) apart from rap 'music' obviously. And prunes.
PS. Oh alright, to answer the question, not entirely original but train to Mach and see what happens. Don't tinker with a winning formula.
PPS. And not having all four seasons in one day is my fourth-worst nightmare

I like your consistency Reg. Even without prunes....RIP wrote:

Having rap 'music' inflicted on me while being force-fed prunes at the same time..... shudder....

Out the door turn right and see how far round the coastline of Sotland I could get preferably off-road.

Island hopping in Scotland?
Take the fat bike (I assume you still have it) and take in some of those glorious looking beaches...

Re: If you had ...
Ride across the bridge into Wales and head north-ish and west-ish until I run out of castles to look at.

As I live on the notth Wales coast, I'd do a loop of the Irish sea. So across the border up through the Lakes, through tother border and make the most of Galloway. Then ferry to Northern Ireland and make a long way to Dublin for the ferry back to holyhead.
Or
Just go over to Ireland for a bimble, oops not the uk though.....

Re: If you had ...
Done this few times although generally only for 4-8 days so far. So for a fortnight it would be up to the Cairngorms, wander round there for a bit, call in at my pals place at Speyside for a couple of days, head west to somewhere I can get a boat to the western isles, spend some beach time, boat back to Oban, then a couple of days home via various forest and estate tracks. All doable off road and (mainly) back roads from my front door
You know, I think I might just do this this year
