Re: Poo
Kind of curious as to why you wouldn't just use a stick, stone, tent peg or something? I've never felt the need for a specific trowel for poos.

Re: Poo
Cheap plastic trowel from a garden centre is what I use at the moment. I'm waiting for Andy at backcountry.scot to get the Vargo DigDig back in stock.
Why a trowel? Sticks not always available, ground too hard, tent pegs are pins really so not suitable.

ScotRoutes (sorry I forgot your name which I did note previously) Ultralight Outdoor have this at only 12g!! Or is the Vargo that much more special

Re: Poo
I want a trowel as stated above makes life far nicer and you get a better hole for burying. I’ve seen the Deuce which looks good for the “job”.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Cheers - the Vargo also acts as a good stake for camping on soft ground/sand, hence my interest.redefined_cycles wrote:ScotRoutes (sorry I forgot your name which I did note previously) Ultralight Outdoor have this at only 12g!! Or is the Vargo that much more special

Re: Poo
I have the 17g Deuce, it's already about as lightweight as it probably can be so I'd be wary of the UUL version - it'll be pretty flexy and I can't see you getting far into anything but soft grassy earth or loam with it.

I'm assuming this is a joke but it's a little misplaced.redefined_cycles wrote:Just thinking out loud here...
If we are follwoing the rule of "leave no trace" to the letter. Then shouldn't such threads/topics be hidden away in some far away archive that noone else can see.
Keeps everyone thats not bikepacking savvy guessing and wondering how we manage to hold it in![]()
This message will self destruct...
I'd like the leave no trace message to reach as many folk as possible.
You only have to travel through the more popular rough camping spots in Scotland, or see the gel packets etc by the roadside throughout the country to realise that as a population we need a some education on this subject.
If you are going through hell, keep going.

Yes... a poorly thought (not exactly a joke but a slight tongue in cheek) out message and I take your point...

Metal shoe horn is your friend here. IIRC mine weighed in around 12g or thereabouts (the shoe horn - not the remains of last nights dinner).

Gonna be hitting the buy button very shortly. I dont like the idea of a scoop digging into my hand midride of a 150 mile thingy.... especially when am trying to keep my hands as comfy as possible on the handlebars..
Anyone able to pass comment on the gsi nylon tool posted a few posts up...
