Shimano brakes

I've managed to strip the thread of my longitudes rear brake (reservoir cap screw) looking at getting a replacement but they don't seem to be easy to find just the lever for that specific brake. Being that they're also made of cheese i would consider changing to a different lever but does anyone know if various shimano levers are compatable? I'd rather just change the lever rather than messing with shortening cables etc. Thanks

When you say lever, do you mean the whole master cylinder? I can't see how changing the lever has any effect on a stripped thread in the reservoir cap otherwise?

CRC tend to have a few different Shimano brake components and you should be able to use one from a different model if you can't find one the same.

as far as i know they are all cross compatible - its essentially just a method of squeezing some liquid

Can you not just tap and die the hole and use a new allen bolt ?

You may even be able to use the stainless steel bolt alone to do this given its soft alloy
I can [probably]get you the size up bolt if any use

Have you got a slightly (couple or 3mm) longer bolt? Might be enough thread left beneath what's stripped.

No, I haven't got anything that's even similar. I think I'll nip to a lbs and see what I can get sorted
