Re: How to insert pictures
The URL you put in the IMG tag needs to be a direct link to the image rather than a page which displays the image.Mart wrote:Anyone got any pointers where Im going wrong?
Using the first link you posted:
https://photos.app.goo.gl/S6Fj88kP93sHzvvW9
Click on the image to show it in the lightbox. (this is a little bit confusing because google's lightbox looks like a blank page with just an image on it - but there's some buttons in the top right too, so it wont work in an IMG tag on here)
If you're using chrome: right-click on the image and choose "copy image address".
If you're using internet explorer: right-click on the image and choose "copy".
You can then paste that into an IMG tag here as you've got the direct link.

OK lets see if this works

Re: How to insert pictures
Just received an email from Flickr advising that soon my free account will be limited to an upload limit of 1,000 pictures.
They of course suggest upgrading to their Pro account with 1st year discount, or downloading my pictures before they are deleted...
I’ll be removing my camera backups and just leaving the few for posts on forums such as this.
Hey ho

Re: How to insert pictures
You need somewhere public to store the images. That can be Flickr, Imgur or any other photo hosting site or if you've your own website it can be on there. Then you just need the URI or address of the image to put inside the img tags.redefined_cycles wrote:So I've read some initial instructions... do I definitely need a flicker account yeah??

Re: How to insert pictures
Not working for me. Downloaded flick as the app... chose the pic and clicked use/share link.
Clicked the img icon in top right which (shows whilst I am writing here)... then used the aformentioend link and slotted it between the 2 [img] brackets...
Failed to show tge pic... then I went back to flicker and just copied and pastwd the link. Still doesnt show. Now I've gonw back there and ensured privacy is set to open... still doesn't show the image. I have tried to use the link inside the [img] tabs aswell as on its own...
Sorry for being such a simpleton with this cutting edge technology...
.. please advise... over

Re: How to insert pictures
The URI is of the page holding the image, not the image itself. There's a difference, it's what most people get confused about.

Edit: going back through this thread I came across this from Benp1 -
So it might be that you can't do it except from the site.Flickr app doesn't let me get the code of the app

What this site wants is something that looks like
[ img ] https://i.imgur.com/18L7smi.jpg [ /img ]
Which without the spaces gives:

Paste what you've copied from flickr in to a text editor like Notepad if you are on Windows or textedit for Mac and check that's what you've got.

Re: How to insert pictures

Nice.... Done. finally. Not that complicated at all... When I clicked the arrow in bottom R on flickr and clicked BBcode... I needed to pick one of the many options in that one massive link... Finally. Seems I can upload my lovely Stan in a lovely minute or few. Wow
