Happy, but I was expecting easy losses to begin with anyway. See my first post on this thread

Re: Fatfighters 2019 Weigh-in Thread
Good, good, got all those updated on the spreadsheet. Keep 'em coming.....
Mostly good news but I think these next few weeks are going to be important as I think it's easy for the new years enthusiasm to wane and we could easily slip back into old ways.
Don't do it!!!

Re: Fatfighters 2019 Weigh-in Thread
One of the biggest impacts for me will be weather and therefore trail conditions. Snow (and more particularly ice) knocks back my exercise, I'm stuck at home more, and therefore more likely to snack too. It's been very mild so far, hence the good start.

04/01/19 - 70.0kg
11/01/19 - 69.0kg (-1.0kg)
Probably a bit too much off in a week there, but I'll dial my calories in as time progresses.
I've started exercising a bit. Long way to go to get back to my old routine though. Gotta do something, can't have Paul end up lighter than me...

I have a friend who's basically the same size and weight as Chris Froome so it's been a running joke for nearly 30 years that I'm the short fat one. He was not impressed when I dipped below his weight last year and started a fitness regimeRichard G wrote:Gotta do something, can't have Paul end up lighter than me...

Re: Fatfighters 2019 Weigh-in Thread
And how was your performance with that, was it much improved with the loss, or hard to say combined with the fitness regime? Well done regardless .PaulB2 wrote:I have a friend who's basically the same size and weight as Chris Froome so it's been a running joke for nearly 30 years that I'm the short fat one. Re: Fatfighters 2019 Weigh-in Thread
I meant he started a fitness regime - my regime is basically eat as healthily as I can and try to find time to get out for a 2-3 hour ride once or twice a month while juggling a hectic family life. I don't go to the gym so when I lift weights they normally wriggle and are giggling. That said, I did once attempt pressups while a 4 year old lay on my back which was serious hard work! All that said, I did notice a performance improvement last year but I also cycled nearly twice as much last year as the previous 3 years combined so diet was just one factor.Moder-dye wrote:And how was your performance with that, was it much improved with the loss, or hard to say combined with the fitness regime? I was 59kg when I did Leadville. Great for hills, not so great for anything else or life in general.
Re: Fatfighters 2019 Weigh-in Thread
One things for sure I'm along way from that stage! Hills were a lot easier last year when just over 200lbs and long days not so draining, but I wasn't much faster. Maybe my up coming angiogram will explain thatRichard G wrote:I was 59kg when I did Leadville. Great for hills, not so great for anything else or life in general.

04.01.19 - 89.9kg
11.01.19 - 88.9kg
A kilo off in a week, happy with that! I've been using my fitness app to try and cap my calorie intake to 2000 and managed to go out for a short run on night. Hoping to do some cycling this weekend at some point, may even squeeze a bivvy in!

Re: Fatfighters 2019 Weigh-in Thread
OK finally got my self weighed.
12st 3.5lbs 77.8kg
For the sake of spreadsheets, Id say my weight has been static since 1st Jan.
I've set my self a goal of loosing 16 lb (7.3kg) over 16 weeks in time for the HTR550. So my goal is about 11st (70kg).
Edit..just realised that my goal equates to about 10% body weight.

Re: Fatfighters 2019 Weigh-in Thread
Got it, nice one.
When we moved out to Malawi in 2005 I weighed 18st / 114kg and when we returned (a year and a bit later) I was 13.5st / 85kg.
A full quarter of my weight gone!
And due solely to a lack of quick and easy access to sugary crap. Was still very active and drank plenty of beer so no change there.
I kicked ass on the bike upon my return
So it can easily be done but for me it took being physically incapable of sabotaging myself.

We live an environment where easy access to cheap high energy food is by design. It's only when that access is removed that you realise that weight gain is not because of some personal behaviour faliure.

01-01-2019 - 115.7kg
04-01-2019 - 114.5kg
11-01-2019 - 113.9kg
18-01-2019 - 113.7kg
I'm taking this tiny loss as a massive win!
This last week has been hell on toast. All the kids and Mrs Gairy have been near death with proper flu and I've got the deadline for a big project at the beginning of next week.
So 12 hour days, seriously little sleep and snot/puke/tears everywhere!
Luckily, by taking a lemsip every six hours for a week and consuming my own weight in vitamin c rich drinks (so sugar basically), I've managed to (so far) avoid getting it myself.
The fact that there is a loss at all is nothing short of a miracle.
How about you lot....?
Come on, don't be shy.

Been bloody good, despite left over flu, then sinusitis and the exercise ban! All I wanted was a measly pound (sorry 0.27272727272727kg)
In the absence of activity I guess I just need to be even gooderererer...
CT cardiac scan now, allegedly in about 3-4 weeks...

Still sore from hip flexor and ‘all work no play’means eating too much comfort food and drinking beer! Refocus again Monday.

Not as good as last week but I'll take it. This new job is killing my exercise time as it's to far away to cycle to, managed to squeeze in an hour on the bike last night and hopefully doing a bit of walking with the kids this weekend. I get an hours lunch break so I'm trying to find a cupboard somewhere I can jam a turbo trainer in to get a lunch session in!
