Nora Batty Prevention

Post by Dave Barter »

My preferred legwear of choice is leg warmers plus bib shorts as you have options if it gets warm and also the warmer can help in the sleeping bag later if it gets really cold.

Problem is I am suffering from the Nora's whereby the warmers will drop down my legs as I ride during the day. I had the idea that some hooked material looped around the top would stop this from happening. Anyone solved this problem, are there some warmers that sort it? And before the phnarr crowd start talking about suspenders. No.

Different brand/size. I've some that are looser than others. Try them tucked into the legs of your shorts to see if the gripper on them will help.

Or more pize.

I have some that do this. I reckon some small sew-on poppers would work but I’ve not yet been arsed to try it.

Had the same problem with arm warmers and my skinny arms. Had pretty much given up on them but bought some Santini ones last year and they’ve never fallen down - maybe there leg warmers are as good??

I put my knee warmers (don't really use leg warmers much) underneath my bib shorts, the silicon grips better then I find

Get ones that are a snug fit, if the grippers aren't very good you could try and run some silicone sealant around the top to help!
Dhb ones from wiggle are reasonably priced and don't budge.

I found a better option than leg warmers are 3/4 Bibs & long socks. Better for keeping your knees warm, then the socks can be moved up & down when needed. It also isn't half as annoying if/when they fall down!
Not cheap, but the Assos 3/4's are excellent for half the year..

how the hell do you go to the toilet in bibs?
I find that after time they start to slip , I mean months /years of ownership, so i just get a new pair.

When at this stage they certainly stay longer if tucked in under the shorts gripper as well but the starting point must be a set that actually fit your legs

I knew I could rely on Duncan to lower the tone.

Surely a leg warmer with hooks or silicon at the top is the answer? Mine are well snug but still slip after a few hours. 3/4 plus long socks are not really what I’m after as I can’t use them in my bag and also love my Woolley bullies.

Used to have some santini which worked well until they started losing their elasticity so tried assos which again worked pretty well until they got worn.
Currently using castelli nanoflex which are the best I've had so far. They also have rain shedding properties.

Being a short arse I don't have this problem as my leg warmers go so far up my leg under my bib shorts that I almost have to tuck them around me nevers!
