Re: Fatfighters 2019 Weigh-in Thread
Hello all, thought I'd join in this year after the excesses of Xmas have left me feeling portly!
04.01.19 - 89.9kg
I'd like to get down to 80kg by summertime but I've just taken a new job that'll see me at a desk all day so it'll be tough going!

Stood on my bathroom scales and they stop at 6st. So I've no idea what my weight is, but it's too much. Benchmark weight will be reported when metrics available.

A little intake reduction and little output increase.

Re: Fatfighters 2019 Weigh-in Thread
Ok, pretty much everyone has posted their numbers for today and they're all logged on the shiny new spreadsheet.
Everyone who hasn't managed it yet just post it when you get the chance and I'll log it then.
Good effort everyone. Losses all round (for those who also posted on the 1st) with the only exception being one identical weigh-in.
Keep it up and we'll all be svelte and über fit in no time!

I am new here but could do with the ritual humiliation to shift some weight!
4/1/19 - 85.6kg
Holy S**t......

All added.
Nice to have you onboard Jodie.
Always seems funny to me when people's starting weights are lower than my target weight but then again I forget that not everyone is 6'2"
Good luck with your journey and keep up (or start) the good work!

Re: Fatfighters 2019 Weigh-in Thread
Just done my starting weight in and shocked at the results. No wonder clothes don't fit anymore.
Between the festive period and some family stuff I have put on a stone in just over a month.
14 stone 11 ,207lbs, 93.9 kg.
Aim to lose a stone for 1st of March.
Jogging 5k every second night from now one and reducing my rubbish intake should hopefully help as well as getting out on the bike.

What does that entail exactly, if you don't mind me asking?Richard G wrote:Just did my first fat measurement of the year. Not happy.

This Navy BF calculator is supposed to be a pretty good in the absence of good caliper measurements or dexa scans. But like anything its probably best to use it to note a trend rather than exact % figures...

Re: Fatfighters 2019 Weigh-in Thread
I've got three methods. BIA scale, calipers and a handheld scanner thing called Skulpt.
None of them particularly accurate. That said, these are the worst figures I've seen in more than 6 years, which I'm feeling pretty bad about.

And all of them are unreliable because they dont take account of muscle mass. Heck, the NHS reckon I could be healthy at 66kg ... 6'2" and 66kg? UNICEF would make me their poster boy for famine relief.Richard G wrote:None of them particularly accurate.
Last time I was 66kg I was 14 and Ive not looked back. I carry a lot of weight in my shoulders, back and legs thanks to decades of weight lifting, rugby and rowing. That said, I need to lose about 8kg of it because that's all chub.
But enough of this.
I crave bread. I love bread. In all its forms. It's not good. HELP.
I'm just going outside ...
Re: Fatfighters 2019 Weigh-in Thread
I went out for a meal and left the bun for my burger (sort of, it was fish) on the side.
I'm trying to be good.

Re: Fatfighters 2019 Weigh-in Thread
Damn you! Now I crave crusty bread with proper butter and salami!
Yeh BMI stuff has never worked for me either. I remember being told at school medical I was over weight; I had a 6 pack! Size 13 feet, 6ft and a genuinely large frame I'm never going to be light but I have a fair bit of lard to lose. If I get to 190lb I'll be around 10% BF.
The waist being less than half your height seems a more sensible rough guide for the NHS to use.

Re: Fatfighters 2019 Weigh-in Thread
NHS has access to direct segmental multi-frequency bioimpedance analysis these days, so it's not like they need to be guessing (or having to spend crazy money on expensive scans).
Re: Fatfighters 2019 Weigh-in Thread
I'm not so sure they do here!
There's currently a crowd funding campaign to get an MRI scanner (currently need to fly to Aberdeen for one). public raised money for a CT scanner some years back too. I also have to fly to Aberdeen annually for a couple of minutes 'op' to have a steroid injection in my wrist as they don't have the live xray machine thing here to do it either. I doubt accurate scanning of body fat is high on their agenda.

Tried running now for a couple of days - my god it is not good for you. As someone that only rides a bike I warn you of this, I was running slower than even I thought possible and it hurt - during and after. You have been warned!
