Poor mans luna solo

I have a silly-light cat cut tart made by scotty the hammock guy that's great for the summer and when the weather isn't coming in sideways and an aliexpress trailstar clone that I've been very pleasantly surprised with in crap weather but is a bit massive for just me. What I really want is a luna solo, but sadly funds won't stretch currently.

Any way thinking of the trailstar I spotted this on ali express:

Less than £30 and 410g
I realise there's no bug net and ground sheet light the luna solo but looks a bit of a bargain.

What do people think - too tall and likely to blow over? anyone actually have one?

That kind of looks like a deschutes but seems to need 2 poles?? I thought they did one which was more of a direct copy of an LS as well as a version of the Deschutes...

I have a vaguely similar one-person Aliexpress shelter that came with an inner. The brand is Knot (same as my Trailstar clone). It did me well for seven nights in Scotland earlier this year (minus the inner). Might be worth seeing if it’s available, although the one you’ve linked to is probably fine too.

Superficially similar but not the same. That one’s a different brand, it’s a fair bit heavier and is PU coated not silnylon.

I'd be slightly concerned by the guylines running off the apex - they either designed it in a belt and braces fashion or realised it was quite unstable later on

Stu, I see what your saying about stability, in some of the photos it looks really tall like it would blow over in a side wind.

i have the first one linked to and it is fine in use - not tested it in super high winds but but have in blustery conditions [ fine if a little noisy] NB i use it in two pole mode- *IME you can just about squeeze two of you in there though its very cosy[ you will touch teh side during the night basically] and I [ 175 cm] can sit up in it[ just but its reasonably high]

For one there is tons of room including enough room for all your gear and still have space to cook
I use an inner with mine, but it weighs as much as the tent - though i can just use that in the summer heatwave.

If an inner is not mosi proof [ smaller annoying critter] rather than mosquito proof then it has no real purpose in the UK anyway so it is never somethign i care that

Bear in mind that a pole that's off-set / angled is weaker than a pole that's upright.

FWIW I use the same pole for this and my Trailstar clone. Can’t remember if it’s 120 or 125., sorry.

Magic - I’ll give it a whirl with what I’ve got first but that’s good to know.

Won’t be ordering til post festivities now - it not exactly a cheap time of year with 3 kids!!
