2019 - what you got planned?
Not long to go now so just what are your plans for next year? Don't worry, we won't hold you to them, after all, they're just plans and often not having one, is actually the best plan of all

May the bridges you burn light your way
Re: 2019 - what you got planned?
Seeing if I can persuade you to go to the Alps and do some stuff from Freds book

Re: 2019 - what you got planned?
Gonna do another BAM as its been great this year. Keep eyeing up various Alpine / Dolomite gpx files on Bikepacking.com so may try and hit the continent if I can be arsed with all the logistics. That will depend on how smooth the Rovaneimi travel goes...
Leisurely wander round the highland Trail route in May and gonna have another go at getting down to Wales next October

A mixture of chills and thrills

- Rovaniemi 150
- Keep going with the BAM
- Big Bear, either group start or ITT depending on dates
- Lakeland 200 (still on my to do list
)
- Borders 350
- Something in Scotland (but not the HT550)
Better weight than wisdom, a traveller cannot carry

Re: 2019 - what you got planned?
Best laid plans and all that rings very true in our house ,so I would like to try a couple of itts (if I can get the motor revving at little higher ) and a few multi day trips instead of one nighters ,but nothing solid I'll just wait and see what the new year brings ,keep wiping my mouth and plodding along
But one thing I would like please please please is another run to the sun

Cairngorn Loop
Lakeland 100 and 200- not one after the other mind.
Glasgow - Inverness NC71?? not sure of exact number family ride
A full week of riding somewhere
BAM
Some form of "race "
200 miles in a day
6000 miles cycled / 4000 off road miles.
Not have a bad crash on the MTB
Most importantly achieve half of this list especially the penultimate one

Re: 2019 - what you got planned?
Well, I've booked the Winter Event. After that (and, indeed, before that) who knows. A picture seen, a map studied, the seed of an idea, an impulsive moment... experiences, memories will follow

We go out into the hills to lose ourselves, not to get lost. You are only lost if you need to be somewhere else and if you really need to be somewhere else then you're probably in the wrong place to begin with.

Re: 2019 - what you got planned?
Rovaniemi in February
Ermmm, that’s it really. Wouldn’t mind another ultra on top of that one but let’s see how Finland goes first.
More mountain days needed

Re: 2019 - what you got planned?
Had a quiet year this year with just Torino-Nice as a big trip. I have been riding my big bike a bit more though which has been fun so hope to keep that up.
BAM
Lon Las Cymru just after new year I hope.
Maybe another winter transcambrian in a day, or another LL200.
Dirty Reiver
Possibly big bear if April start
Braunton 150 - May start this year which should be good
HT550
Bristol bikefest as a pair with a fast friend - not sure I'll be in XC mode in June though!
Repair Marriage following HT550 training.
Sneak something in Sept - maybe TN again if I can swing it at touring/drinking pace.

Re: 2019 - what you got planned?
After a year without the stress of Strava and mile counting next year I'll be chilling out on my rides just as much.
Not stressing about following dotted lines of organised GPS events.
If I do rides line the JennRide I'll alter the route to suit taking the pack raft along as well
Looking to mix up my riding with Packrafting more. Route planning with added blue lines of rivers and lakes to pack raft on as well as to ride around.
Scotland in May, maybe Norway, maybe back to Iceland

Re: 2019 - what you got planned?
Paris-Brest-Paris in August.
I've got all the necessary qualifier entries and the before and after hotels sorted.
Haven't worked out how I'll get to Paris yet and can't formally enter until the new year, but it's a start!

Riding. After some time off, illness, troubles etc.
Reverting to the riding that got me into all this lark. Which is to say, some trips just for the joy of riding and being out in the hills. Mixed with some personal challenges such as the Cairngorm loop.

Re: 2019 - what you got planned?
Try to pick up a wifi toaster in the January sales.
Winter event. Although I'm considering a 30 day fast in January and not sure the two are compatible.
WRT, maybe the Big Bear groupo
Trip to the Alps with mates, one's pushing for The Capricorn Trail, I'm trying to pull towards making a loop out of the top bit of The Grand Italian Trail
Still want to go back and finish the Tour de Mont Blanc - Haute Route double header
See what time i've got left. Wouldn't mind an ITT of the HT550. Might leave that for next year and maybe apply for a place on the group start.
Might buy a proper road bike.

Re: 2019 - what you got planned?
TINAT 600, as that seems very effective in getting ('scaring'!) me out onto enjoyable long rides to build up the miles and prep. Got a lot out of the ride last year, rode with some good people and did something I wasn't sure I could do. Will try a different approach this year I think (ie some kip)
Apart from that and the TNR, nothing really. Last year I really enjoyed being in the UK most of the summer, just long weekend bivi rides in the sunshine. Though I do have the urge to go somewhere very open and expansive. Those trips take planning so thanks for the nudge.

For me I'm still in two minds as to whether to continue with BAM.
And I've got a pass to use so would love to give Morocco a go, or maybe a return to Iceland.

Re: 2019 - what you got planned?
About the only thing I have planned is WRT and a vague idea of a 3-4 day trip either before or after the school summer holiday. Beyond that, it’s getting more miles and longer rides in my legs
Re: 2019 - what you got planned?
I had hopes for some more Scottish exploration and maybe Holland & Belgium (a friend over there has offered the use of a HT to save airline bike faff) with my new knee and to get a 200mile day in (on road Kyle of Lochalsh to Aberdeen), but...
...now I'm under a Doc's cycling ban while a heart issue is investigated, so all bets are off
Start the beta blockers today for ectopic beats that get more frequent and worse under exercise, been told nothing more than moderate walking and no cycling

Re: 2019 - what you got planned?
Think I might give up BAM next year, I've done it for 3 consecutive years but it's time to do more with the family so next year we are all going to do BAM (bothy a month) together
The girls bikes are sub standard so the first few will be easy walks in, hoping I can get them new bikes before we go to France in the summer and we will be able to use them for some bothy trips as well. Looking forward to spending more time outdoors with the kids not staring at TV's and tablet screens!

Re: 2019 - what you got planned?
More roadie/grrrravel focus:
Torino-Nice Rally
5 ski centres Tour of the Highlands (sportive!)
TransScotland
200, 300, 400, 600km Super Randonneur audax series
A serious think about Paris-Brest-Paris

Re: 2019 - what you got planned?
Only things i have lined up at present are:
Malteni Gravel Riders in Belgium - 280km off road in a day (seemed like a good idea at the time!0
Dorset Gravel Dash 50/50
Vanterruddan in Sweden, 300km sportive type thing round a lake
Dirty Boar race in Belgium
Then a long weekend away riding this in Belgium:
http://www.bikepacking.com/routes/ardennes-arbalete/
Then really want to actually get to a Bearbones event next year, probably WRT and get to #jennride.
Then hopefully get to ride Torino-Nice rally again as that was ace or maybe look at Tuscany Trail
