Good Luck BBers
I know there are a few BB threads already but just wanted to say good luck to you all tomorrow. Sounds like the weather is going to make it epic. Stay safe!
Re: Good Luck BBers
Too right! Any badges are going to be hard earned this weekend..
Looking like really quite weathery weather.

Good luck all!
Quite relieved I didn’t enter this year. I’m taking a much softer option and doing the Dorset Gravel Dash route this weekend.

Good luck all that are attending, the weather has been truly horrendous in the Beacons today, reports of 160mm of rain in 48 hrs! Lord knows what mid Wales will suffer,
be careful out there .

Perfect opportunity to add packrafting to the BB200 this year.

Yup, best of luck to all, stay safe. Hope you're all having fun in the Star about now! Has everyone packed their emergency inflatable flamingo?

Totally agree, good luck you crazy bastards!!!
Massively jealous (though a little less so with the weather that's forecast) as it's been 3 years since my last bb200 now which is way too long.
Enjoy yourselves and stay safe out there!!

Re: Good Luck BBers
I pulled out after riding the SDW, apart from the severe illness I suffered ( food poisoning?) I realised that the distance needed without a kip in the middle would be more than I would enjoy.
Considering the forecast anyone who starts tomorrow knowing the effort involved even in good weather deserves the upmost respect/ sympathy.
Stay safe folks and as my skydiving instructor was fond of saying don’t confuse ambition with ability, NO ONE here will think less of you if you pull out mid ride, we all know what it’s like on top even in much better weather.
Look after yourselves, good luck

As they used to say on Hill Street Blues - let's be careful out there. All the best to you loons, we're all thinking of you and rooting for you.

Good luck everyone. Massive respect to everyone starting. I'm hoping to give it another crack next year when it will be 27 degs and dusty!
Re: Good Luck BBers
I'll add my respect too. Enjoy it for what it is, the aftermath will no doubt be better than the reality
(I'm sat at work in a wet and windy sawmills wondering where all the contractors are; still tucked up at home no doubt!)

We go out into the hills to lose ourselves, not to get lost. You are only lost if you need to be somewhere else and if you really need to be somewhere else then you're probably in the wrong place to begin with.

Re: Good Luck BBers
How did the big send-off go Stu? Plenty of tea and toast and last-minute sou'wester sales?
In some perverse way I'd like to be out there in it too, but against the clock in this lot is an amazing achievement for the 2/300-ers whether completing or not.

Re: Good Luck BBers
I think just shy of 60 riders ventured out. Conditions are perhaps not quite as bad as forecast (no lightning) but it's very, very wet and river levels have risen massively overnight.
Despite (or perhaps because of) conditions, spirits seemed very high with a lot of spirit on show. I really do take my hat off to all those who've set off this morning ... most of the population wouldn't have considered walking the length of their garden.

'because of' is actually an excellent summarisation of many mad, bloodyminded, to-hell-with-it, what's-the-worst-that-could-happen-if-I-do, what's-the-best-that-can-happen-if-I-do, punky things that go on in This Place

Made it back to Llanbrynmair with a BB200 finish at 01:17, 17 hours of wind and rain. Now tucked into my bag trying to warm up. That was brutal!
There were some very sketchy crossings out there with some close calls. I will post some photos tomorrow of a fallen tree crossing a gushing river with Javi and Tom at around 20km.
Goodnight,
Lars

Finished at 0618 this morning, I'd started just before nine. Twenty hours moving time and one hour twenty stopped time.
As Lars said it was pretty grim, some of the river crossings were very dodgy.

I received this last night from some clubmates (I was safely warm and dry in an armchair at the time):

I assume that at least one of those riders was disqualified?
