well my new 29er just arrived today and i'm raring to get my bikepacking setup finalised and hit some trails within the next few weeks. i'm an experienced backpacker so have all the camp gear and i'm currently finalising what to use with the bike (or what will fit in to the drybags!).
as far as new bike gear goes, i think i only really need to buy some new spare 29er tubes (was gonna get some from on-one?), and will obviously look to upgrade components when funds permit. i fancy trying to make a simple frame bag as i am handy with a sewing machine, plus i like the idea of strapping some cages to the forks for water bottles (as per current threads).. i guess i'm just looking for any tips and advice specifically on 29er bikepacking anyone can offer?

I would reccomend having a go at making a framebag, I am in the process of making a handlebar harness. I can reccomend Extremtextil for fabric and zips, VX21 seconds and Cordura 500 seconds. Making the patterne is handy the sewing a bit more fiddly, just make sure your velcro is the right way on.
I have posted pics of the framebag on my facebook page.

hey andrew, thanks - i've already been in touch with you, it was me that asked what zip you used! i've pretty much clainmed my wife's sewing machine at the moment, i just finished a smallish tarp and pair of down tent slipper/booties, so now i want to move on to the frame bag. i just need to measure up my frame and get the materials together and i'm good to go!
