I have never heard them called a dirty water pump. Either way I drop mine into the septic tank soakaway tank! Basically the water comes out of the septic tank and goes into another brick tank. The base is concrete with a 2 foot(a guess) hole in the middle. The brick wall is formed in a circle with a gap between each brick. This allows water to escape into the ground. Overtime sediment builds up. I drop the submersible pump in (rope attached) and bounce it up and down to get the sediment moving. Turn on the pump and I pump it out on to some unused weedy ground. A bit wiffy but the smell disappears quickly. Alas the weeds are uncontrollable 8 foot nettles are not unusual.
