Biking the John Muir Way
Thought I would share my blog of cycling the John Muir Way last weekend. For the first time, I took my two sons (11 and 13) on one of my biking adventures. We had some dodgy moments but battled through and finished the whole route. Highly recommend it for a family ride - great way to see the heart of Scotland.

(If riding it solo, you could definitely do it all in day.... one for the future, maybe)

Really enjoyed reading that thanks. I will have a go at that with my boy (13) sometime.
Your boys did really well. It's amazing how much more they can do than you (or they) realise.
If you are interested then have a look at this - its an account of my 1000 mile trip with my boy from a couple of years ago. Its a lot easier than they have done already!

Thanks Borderer, I enjoyed your blog too. That is a serious distance for a 13 year old. Like the wee trailer too.... A very good option.
I am amazed that they managed it. No plans for the next ride yet but you never know.

The trailer is long gone in favour of bike packing luggage....

Please post a write-up in here if you do more rides with your kids in Scotland - I would be interested to hear them.
There are some Scottish trips on our blog, but all in the Borders so far....

Really enjoyed both of those, thanks. Good job on the gentle coaching along too - has to be the hardest part! Gives me a lot to look forward to when my 5 year old gets a bit bigger - I'm keeping it short and fun at the moment:

Nice write-up and photos Jose. You don't need to go far for an adventure. Tent marbles made me laugh. Tent dice works for us though
Did you fix the trailer later?

Cheers, he's got a bit of a marble obsession at the moment, so they were coming regardless! Plus any interesting rocks he found on the way...
Trailer is fine and I've found a replacement tow skewer on SJS that looks like it will do the trick for our next trip. I loved seeing all your trips - very inspiring!

Thanks. I am currently out of action (and climbing the walls) but hope to be back out there again soon.
