winter trousers-whos wearing what??
Having just brought so winter NW Celsius boots after 15yrs of cold feet, ive also realised i need winter trousers that are gonna keep out the cold and wet. Been looking at the Altura attack X winter trouser, anyone use these if so any good?? Or are there better recommendations to be had please
Re: winter trousers-whos wearing what??
Had two pairs of Altura attack shorts.
Both started delaminating and both had their zips come away from the main body of the fabric.
Other than that they were alright.

I wear fleece lined bib tights. Best ones i've got are DHB ones. Have never been cold in them. They're not waterproof though but do dry quickly so for overnights i've got HH Warm tights to change into.
The fleece braces/upper mean that I only need to wear a base layer on top with perhaps a jacket if really cold.
Some people don't like tights but i'm part roadie so find them more comfortable than anything else.

Bibs are great bits of kit IMO. I don't use them as much as I used to with the advent of decent baggies / semi-waterproofs and Endura Event 3/4s as alternatives but they're still good gear.

I've got a pair or those.
They're only any good if you've got a mudguard on though.

i can see my ass getting wet in them for sure
Re: winter trousers-whos wearing what??
I bought a pair of those for my parents, I don't think they're using them much. They seem OK for a day ride, but there's no way I'd risk these being my only winter/rain "trousers" in Wales.
Currently I have a pair of Montane meteor dt pant - the cut is in no way cycle-specific. Rather baggy and I managed to get my leg sucked into the chain once - forgot to strap them... They do have a 3/4 length zip which is vaguely exciting for putting over your current layer and you don't have to take off your shoes. It's also great for venting once the rain is gone. They come in at ~300g for size L and pack down quite small. I like them for touring.
I'm eying some Super-Fly Pants now, since they seem to have a more articulated cut.

Nice selection of MOD Goretex trousers ... the military sizing is something I've never really understood though

If anyone is considering getting some waterproof trousers, I got some pretty decent RAF goretex from these guys;

they weight about 400 grams, but aren't exactly the coolest thing in the world. One pocket at the back, and access pockets at the sides. My one gripe with them is the lack of ankle straps, but I improvise with some stretchy cord. They're a very endearing shade of blue.

These Terra XT's continue to be my winter trousers of choice, matched with thermals for camping/proper cold.
If I know I am going to wear waterproofs, or canoeing, or warm around camp, I break out the (ancient) Mountain Equipment ultra fleece salopettes...vaguely exciting bits of warm kit, if a tad '90s looking. 8-)
