Well done to everyone sticking at this and I think if you've found a way that is working for you great. If you need to make adjustments or changes further down the line you'll know yourself.
My loss this week is completely surprising, I was half expecting a gain, but 1lb loss is fine with me as I'm finally learning to take a long term view of this.
I'm still meeting my #naffas365cyclingchallenge and a pound a week over the year is still almost 4st.
Anyway, last week I was 17st 11lb. Today I'm 17st 10lb, a 1lb loss but 10lb since the start of the year.

Good work everyone.
Aye, steady progress ... a couple of years ago I conducted an experiment to see what happens when you cut out carbs. In the first 7 days of eating a diet of only fat and protein (zero carbs), I lost 9lb. I didn't count calories at all and probably consumed more than I would had I eaten 'normally' but ..... I felt like sh1te. No energy, continual arsey mood and generally not good. It was also something which I knew that personally, I wouldn't be able to maintain longterm (I know some people can / do - waves at Tony). However, I found that by introducing a small amount of carbs (think 1 slice of bread per day or similar) everything stabilised. The weight loss continued although not at the stupidly high rate and the small amount of carbs made a massive difference to energy levels ... or at least seemed to.
Anyway, enough rambling but I'd suggest reading 'Eat bacon, don't jog' by Grant Peterson for a no nonsense look at diet / exercise / weight loss.

Well done everyone.
Sorry for the delayed congrats, I've been in a&e hooked up to an ECG!
Been getting ventricular ectopic beats every 2-6 heart beats making me have a weird ache in the base of my neck and feel nauseous. Good news is heart xray is fine, the keto diet is not to blame and I'm home. I think I can still ride, I was too flummoxed to ask
Bad news is they are suggesting beta blockers if its bothering me enough and an appointment to their clinic in 4-6 weeks for further assessment and possibly ultrasound. I'm thinking to avoid the betablockers if at all possible until I speak to the consultant at the clinic. Anyone else in this boat or qualified to comment?
Back on topic.... Scooby's calory calculator that I linked to before recons a BMR of 2236 ( just over what I'm eating) maintenance calories of 3466, and 20%deficit calories of 2775. So I definitely need to up my feeding. I don't feel crap though, energy is fine for up to high sweet spot efforts and weights. Above ftp stuff is tough. But often I just don't feel that hungry on keto and when i do eat I soon have had enough.

Unfortunately I travel to less civilised places99percentchimp wrote:My dilemma often as well - I usually try for same as you for breakfast but often search out a quality supermarket/organic shop (for the walk too) and just get salads/fruit for evening meal unless out with colleagues/clients. I find it easier doing this as I am often in civilised places with good food options (Scandinavia etc.).SeannyD wrote:108.5Kg this morning, working away again.
Does anyone who works away have an alternative to the early big breakfast, hardly any lunch, then late meal cycle I seem to be in? Breakfast normally poached eggs, toast and beans not full fry up. Lunch is fruit snaffled on way out. Dinner is whatever veggie/ low cal option they have, plus a beer. ( one obvious change there already)

Can’t wait till it gets lighter at night and I can take a bike with me.
Cheers

Ah, I remember now.
Re: Fatfighters 2018 Weigh-in Thread
Yeah, it's a good way of getting a reliable average. You do need to be of a state of mind where the daily figures don't bother you though.whitestone wrote:I think it was Richard G last year who not only had a daily weight but a rolling average over five days which deals with occasional "blips". I've a spreadsheet with daily, 5 day and 11 day averages. Once you've set up the formulae it's just a case of putting in the daily weigh-in.
Related... my trip away just added 3.5kg, which I'm REALLY hoping is just a blip.

Edit - 2kg of that gone today, thankfully!

Haven't found time to dig out the scales yet but I'm still up for this!
The last two weeks have seen a lot of riding and a lot of 'socialising' so be interesting to see where the scales land.

Re: Fatfighters 2018 Weigh-in Thread
Managed to get some weighing scales early last week: 16 st 7 lbs / 231 lbs / 104.8kg.
Which is about what I was expecting after the last few months.
Initial goal is to get to 100kg, and then aim for 95kg, which is what I got to in 2015 (peak cycling year for me).
Exercise got back underway on Sunday with an 18 mile ride on quarry tracks, across boggy moorland, wet and very muddy (downhill) farm tracks, old dramroad routes through clear-felled forestry areas (I.e. lots of branches and windblown trees), narrow cliff clinging tracks. In otherwords plenty of bike'n'hike.
Apparently, I was grinning afterwards, which my wife confirmed that she knows that cycling and escaping on bike/bivi/bothy makes me a happier and nicer person
Time to focus on with the diet...

Re: Fatfighters 2018 Weigh-in Thread
Finally got around to weighing myself.....
05-1-18 - 111kg or 244.5lbs
12-1-18 110.5kg or 243.6lbs
19-1-18 110kg or 242.5lbs
07-02-18 110kg or 242.5lbs
No change!
Given that I've likely gained a fair bit of muscle mass in the last two weeks (and I've also not been paying particular attention to what I eat or drink) I'll take no change.

Re: Fatfighters 2018 Weigh-in Thread
Phew, the weekend weight is gone, so obviously despite eating and drinking like a king from them middle ages... it was mostly water weight. :)
I suspect participating in the Tour of Sufferlandria this week might have helped a bit too.
