Not managed last Friday's weigh in yet but I'll get it done in the morning.
Had the Fatbiking Europe Winter Camp so lots and lots of riding but also more beer than usual (despite being the first to sleep every night - model of restraint me!).
Am expecting a sniff of gain so we'll see how things have re/pro- gressed on the morrow.....

Well.....
I have been YoYoing for the last 18 months id loose a stone and put it back on, same old story really. But did a bit of reading in the crimbo break and had a realisation that i was under eating by quite a bit. I have been trying to shift the last two stone for years and it never worked out. I was in storage mode and always when ever id slightly over eat id bang on 3 or 4 lbs in a few days.
So trying to eat my daily calories plus any from exercise. Reset my body and the try and drop the weight more slowly but the right way.
So far im struggling to eat this much :/ but gonna stick with this, as I know this is the right way :)

Out of interest what calculation did you use for your calculations?

3361 to maintain weight with 3-5 hours exercise a week
2689 at 20% deficit to loose 69lb in a year.
I'm actually currently on 1900-2200 according to my fitness pal and actually exercising around 7-10 hours a week but not replacing those exercised calories. MFP has me supposed to be eating only 1780 a day which is even lower. Exercise is around 5-6 hours Turbo ( bloody weather) , 3-4 hours walking and 1 hour free weights. So could easily be in your boat soon ...

I'm struggling this week as I seem to be eating all the time.
On todays ride I feared I was going to bonk so entered McDonalds for a coffee but also had 5 coated chicken strips, yummy!
Just hoping that all my cyling is gonna outweigh all my eating, lol.

Well with your cycling streak you're going to have a higher consumption for sure. I guess it would come down to trying to manage it with better choices?

I was doing longer rides last year and found I was eating lots to compensate. However I read somewhere that for weight loss keeping your rides down to 1hr to 1.5hr was a good balance where you get a good level of exercise but without that craving for food or thinking you NEED more food because youve exerted yourself more.
Also were constantly being told we need carbs and protein to fuel our exercise but in reality I'm learning that my normal diet shouldnt need extra carbs and protein that I have been feeding it, relative to the amount of exercise I'm doing.

Yeah long rides definitely tend to lead to overcompensation on the food front.
I've found with a steady 2-3 hour ride, especially since going keto, that I'm fine without anything specific really during or after . Different if you were racing though.
Pity I've got a big tub of hardly opened high 5 and box of energy bars on the shelf
Telling myself that they might come in for when I actually do longer trips away.

If I'm trying to lose weight I flat out don't count my time on the bike towards my calories unless I'm doing 3h+ rides in lumpy terrain.
Best to just stick to the same intake and let the extra exercise calories be a bonus.

Without wanting to put a damper on your progress, that's WAY TOO FAST on the weight loss front. More than double the high end of what most people would recommend.
I mean, good job obviously... but you need to be careful not to try and lose it all so quickly. It wont end well.

108.5Kg this morning, working away again.
Does anyone who works away have an alternative to the early big breakfast, hardly any lunch, then late meal cycle I seem to be in? Breakfast normally poached eggs, toast and beans not full fry up. Lunch is fruit snaffled on way out. Dinner is whatever veggie/ low cal option they have, plus a beer. ( one obvious change there already

Yeh I know, but I am eating between 1800 and 2200 cals a day of high fat, mod protein, low carb. My dilemma often as well - I usually try for same as you for breakfast but often search out a quality supermarket/organic shop (for the walk too) and just get salads/fruit for evening meal unless out with colleagues/clients. Firstly, well done and keep it up but a work of caution on shedding too much weight too quickly: You are just kicking your body into "survival mode" by loosing this much weight so quickly. You are a fat lad (or you would not be doing this - like the rest of us
) so you body had been use to receiving xxxxx amount of calories per day (in your past). Now its a lot less and its stripping out the "easy access" energy stores you have (some fat, muscle tissue and a whole bunch of other stuff not related to fat). This will have the side effect of also reducing you BMR (your metabolic rate) which will make life much harder for you down the road.
Loose 2 lbs A WEEK and thats 52 lbs lost by August (6 months) and your body wont be fighting to convert every calory into fat.
There is a reason why its recommended to go slow and steady - look at last years FF results - lots of fast loss followed by the inevitable weight gain plus a bit in some cases.

I think it was Richard G last year who not only had a daily weight but a rolling average over five days which deals with occasional "blips". I've a spreadsheet with daily, 5 day and 11 day averages. Once you've set up the formulae it's just a case of putting in the daily weigh-in.
Having averaging periods that aren't multiples of seven means that you avoid weekly cycles in weight. My daily weight varies by a couple of kg throughout the week but the averages are showing a gradual loss. This also lets you see longer term trends rather than overreacting to last night's curry or preparing for a specific day's weighing or whatever. Probably mentioned somewhere: have a specific target in mind - i.e. lose 10kg by 1st July rather than a nebulous "lose weight". 10kg over 26 weeks is 400g per week (just under a pound)
