It's been a while but I've made a new stove. I appreciate that it looks very boring but as ever, the devil's in the detail. Very fuel efficient and works well with pots / mugs of different sizes ... it's also largely 'idiot proof'. This proto' is winging its way down south where hopefully Matt will do his upmost the prove / disprove that last point.

Looks like some fibreglass wool in there as an anti-spill mechanism?

Much posher Bob, 'tis ceramic wool which unlike glass won't burn over time. Also, consider it a wick rather than anti-spill.

Very excited
it's also largely 'idiot proof'.
I shall see if it works however, never underestimate the ingenuity of an idiot

And with no bags on the bike where will the tester carry the stove?
We go out into the hills to lose ourselves, not to get lost. You are only lost if you need to be somewhere else and if you really need to be somewhere else then you're probably in the wrong place to begin with.

Ah, very interesting. How's the size Stu in relation to the existing 8g stove and the 22g?
And you've mentioned to me before about the need for some insulation from the ground for best results - I presume the wool is addressing that?

Overall, the dimensions are fairly close to a 22g ... I'll knock you one up for trial Philip. I did mention it to you before Christmas.

Concur!
This is now my new stove and supersedes everything else I've got.
It's a winner.

A bit before May - erm, 21 days time (as per me profile
). No pressure though
. Good excuse to invest in some of that there groundsheet-du-jour, permavent, too at the same time.
