Hunka XL alternative please!

Post by johnnystorm »

I'm going to give this tarp & Bivi lark a whirl for my February "Bivi a month challenge". The Hunka XL looked a good bet as I should be able to fit me, sleeping bag and the Xtherm inside. Alpkit appear to be out of stock with no indication yet of when more will arrive. Any suggestions for an alternative with room for the mat inside as well?

Cheers! :)

I've got a Rab Storm which is big enough for winter use.
Got a zipped closure too so you can fully suffocate yourself:

Do you find it large enough to fit the mat into as well? Breathable enough for a down bag? Green or Orange? ;)

Cheers!

I'd second a RAB Storm ... plenty of room inside, seem as breathable as most other 'cheaper' bags and robust too. I've got one that's still going strong from before RAB were RAB ;)

I've got the olive coloured one as it's less "look at me I'm camping illegally" but each to their own.

Mine fits my POE peak elite mat and down quilt so you should be ok. Plent of room.

Comes in a dry bag too. At a squeeze, I can fit a silnylon tarp in the dry bag as well.
