Tubeless repair strips
I bought a tubeless repair kit a while ago and when Meraid got a gusher Sean kindly demonstrated the wonder of anchovies or dog turds, now just before we go on our annual Christmas trip i thought i better get somd more. £5 for 5 seemed a bit steep especially as i have the tool so i found some on ebay for less than £2 for 25 only they are a bit fat, probably too thick for a bicycle tyre? has anyone tried cutting these down? or where do you get thin cycle ones from?
Re: Tubeless repair strips
I can't take the credit, it was Jim who demonstrated how to do it. I did say to him that when I used mine it was quite thick and difficult to insert, he did say they can be cut down the centre. I've also now got one pre-loaded into the tool to save time and faff in the event of a puncture.

Re: Tubeless repair strips
I've cut down motorbike / car dog turds - its PIA but doable. I've had a lot of success with thin strips of old inner tube with a knot tied in them = free!
Re: Tubeless repair strips
the Decathalon job looks a lot like the one i bought to begin with, but when the 5 strips are gone where do you get the repair kit refil from?
Re: Tubeless repair strips
I cut the strips in half - still plenty long enough
2924 miles per Gallon
Re: Tubeless repair strips
I have a load of the car ones, but like you say they're way too large. If anyone finda a proper source of the bicycle sized ones for less than £5 for 5, that would be ace. Don't think I can be bothered to cut up my car ones!

Phil, does the knot go in the middle of the inner tube when you do this?htrider wrote:I've cut down motorbike / car dog turds - its PIA but doable. I've had a lot of success with thin strips of old inner tube with a knot tied in them = free!
Sounds like an excellent idea to use up som old inner tube

Re: Tubeless repair strips
That's the one I have. Only had to use it once and it worked a treat. I think the tyre will wear out before the insert does.Single Speed George wrote:Decathlon do a good bike tubeless repare kit... used it a few times verry impressed

Yes and you shove that into the hole. I tried adding a blob of superglue to help it stick but it didn;t really work and subsequently never bothered.pushbikemike wrote:Phil, does the knot go in the middle of the inner tube when you do this?htrider wrote:I've cut down motorbike / car dog turds - its PIA but doable.
