Black Friday 2017
There's a few Black Friday (think of an American version of Boxing Day) sales I've noted, plus some usual winter sales.
Borah Gear - 20% http://borahgear.com/index.html
Enlightened Equipment - 15% off the ready made Revelations, 10% off everything else https://enlightenedequipment.com/2017-holiday-sale/
Zpacks - various reductions http://www.zpacks.com/
PHD - various items https://www.phdesigns.co.uk/sales-and-special-offers
Any others?

I will likely have a Samsung ssd virtually unused in my box of computer bits.
Could sell it cheap if interested.
Can’t see me using it

Re: Black Friday 2017
Had no idea this ^ was a thing but having looked, it really is a thing.Going to grab a wifi kettle on Amazon hopefully this year.
Here's a list of benefits as claimed by iKettle ...
Save time and remote boil from anywhere in the house
Set wake up alarms and gain an extra 5 minutes in bed
Arrive home to the iKettle boiled and ready to pour
Boil ready notifications allow you to save energy by never having to re-heat
Avoid that bitter taste and brew at the right temperature. Choose from 65, 80, 95 and 100'c
... I still don't get it.
May the bridges you burn light your way

Surely it needs to be connected to your iTap by an iHose?

Don't see what there is to get Stu - it's a wifi kettle, the future of water-boiling.Bearbonesnorm wrote:Had no idea this ^ was a thing but having looked, it really is a thing.Going to grab a wifi kettle on Amazon hopefully this year.

Wifi kettles.

Re: Black Friday 2017
I'm with Stu on this. Wifi kettle - a solution looking for a problem to solve.
Now, do I need to invent a
Wifi toaster?

An aside, but the internet’s first webcam was invented by researchers at Cambridge, to save themselves the disappointment of walking all the way to the coffee machine to find the pot empty.slarge wrote:I'm with Stu on this. Wifi kettle - a solution looking for a problem to solve.

I have a great kettle that I can boil and fill from my phone. It's powered by Wi-Fe. Do have to say please though.

Does it make IT ?Going to grab a wifi kettle on Amazon hopefully this year.
I'm here all week.
Re: Black Friday 2017
It's all well and good until someone hacks your kettle and it becomes part of a botnet.

Re: Black Friday 2017
Does it take a pee for you too...?A wi-fi enabled kettle marks the end of wondering whether your kettle has boiled yet or having to physically get out of bed to boil the kettle in the morning
We go out into the hills to lose ourselves, not to get lost. You are only lost if you need to be somewhere else and if you really need to be somewhere else then you're probably in the wrong place to begin with.
Re: Black Friday 2017
Despite working in IT, I'm a bit of a luddite when it comes to all of this sort of stuff.
Utterly pointless.
Utterly pointless.
Re: Black Friday 2017
Most people in IT are wary about them because most of them are easy to hack. I think there was an article on Ars Technica about a bored developer who whiled away an otherwise boring evening in a Hotel by working out how to turn the lights on or off and the heating up and down in every room through the completely unsecured network

I know a good joke about a Goblin Teasmaid. Not for a family-friendly forum though.
