I'm in! Really hope the Cwtch Cafe in Ystrad Meurig is on the list! Most amazing cafe I've been to: "5 Egg omelette, 2 inner tubes and a gear cable please"

I'm liking the photo that comes with the confirmation email or the advertorial or whatever it is. That's my outfit sorted then! Just need to obtain the bike.

Given the title for the event I was expecting to see something with a big motor and single seatRIP wrote:I'm liking the photo that comes with the confirmation email or the advertorial or whatever it is. That's my outfit sorted then! Just need to obtain the bike.

We go out into the hills to lose ourselves, not to get lost. You are only lost if you need to be somewhere else and if you really need to be somewhere else then you're probably in the wrong place to begin with.

Mulling over for good excuses here
(apart from being all soft-poor show-southern) and was wondering roughly how long the route is for this, are we talking a BB200 type thing ????

Re: Entries open on the... some time in November.
It's much more akin to the WRT than the BB200 ... there's simply a destination to aim for (it'll be worthwhile) but how you reach it is entirely up to you. Everyone will receive a set of GR to help them plot a route but you don't have to use all or even any of them. I'd estimate that if you took the most direct route possible, you'd likey not cover more than 35 miles all in ... however, you would be missing out a little if you did do that.Mulling over for good excuses here(apart from being all soft-poor show-southern) and was wondering roughly how long the route is for this, are we talking a BB200 type thing ????

Quite a few people (in my experience) end up ignoring virtually all the refs anyway and just heading for a bothy / bunkhouse for some socialising.
I usually start off with good intentions, and inevitably alter my route on the second day.

Re: Entries open on the... some time in November.
Our total distance on this year's event was a mighty 86Km. Went to a few places I'd not been before. Found a very nice cafe and a not so nice pub. There you go.
Will peruse the grid-refs when they arrive, work out a potential route or two taking in the sights then ride something completely different.

Re: Entries open on the... some time in November.
"or even any of them" - last year Crewlie, Pickers and meself ambled round stumbling into various pubs, cafes, football pitches, back gardens etc having a marvellous time. It wasn't until the last couple of miles from base that we noticed we'd visited NONE of the gridrefs, luckily we happened to be passing the church at Darowen and nipped in so that at least we'd ticked ONE off, purely for the look of the thing
.
"35 miles" - dangerously verging on a clue there Stu, you've set me off with my protractor now
. Please people, don't try and wheedle it out of Stu or it'll spoil the nice surprise
.

Re: Entries open on the... some time in November.
35 miles so that's say 15 miles each way allowing for wiggles. Draw a circle of 15 miles radius based on Llanbrynmair and see where it gets you! Then again it lets Stu add one of his "marine" grid regs

Piece of string cut to scale and a drawing pin, surely. There's a lot of wiggles on Welsh tracks and laneswhitestone wrote:35 miles so that's say 15 miles each way allowing for wiggles. As a bike packer my friends think I’m nuts (they might have a point); however, a bike packing event in January in Wales ....surely that is another level of crazy???
