I feel I should just point out this chap wasn't Welsh, not even English ... he was American, you know, the land of the free and seemingly bigoted

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.
I had a ranger tell me that I shouldn't ride my bike where I was.
The bugger was right but he started with "you know people walk their dogs here and push prams..."
"Yep, thats why I was going slow..."
Fortunately, mine ended with a mini lecture and me finding the nearest exit
Anyways, onto cheery Friday (which I nearly called cherry Friday
) and I've just finished for the weekend and have sent my lesson plans onto someone else, hopefully I can sit in peace until they come back

Bloody colonials
. One salutes you anyway Stu. I'd've saved about 39 minutes and 39 seconds of the bloke's phone bill. Unless you rang HIM of course

Friday night had me looking about in a field off the A1 for something of no relevance here and finding it heaving with hundreds of rats. Everywhere the torch was pointed the little buggers were scurrying about, thankfully away rather than at the direction of Mr Herbert. Not particularly cheery but strangely amusing.

It's Friday - do I need to give a reason?
Ok, managed to get an early dart as I'm on a training day, so can play catch up with lesson planning
I think that good? Free's up the rest of the weekend I guess

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.
Just finished for a week off work. Tommorrow will be heading north for some gadding aboot on the Jones. All being well next Friday will also be cheery as I'll be at the Clachaig beer festival in Glencoe getting wrecked.
Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.
Went to the pub with the kids only because my daughter suggested we went.
Put the world to rights and planned the weekend. Hepworth with my daughter tomorrow. Bike ride Sunday with Tom.

Wife suggested we get tickets for sporting event in town tonight. I laughed it off as being too much $$$. Looked into it and it was $$, but not $$$$ and she was keen to go. So I booked the tickets on line and we're off to it tonight by train. Wife likes sports if she can see them in person. Hates to watch them on TV. Beautiful night to top it off so it should be fun. Friday ending up cheery'r then it started

Just to prove how dull and easily pleased I am ... my Friday was made cheery by a new arrow I made for Dee beating her previous best flight arrow by over 6 yards. Yeah, that's right I did say 6, not 60

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.
With her 'little bow' which is only 26lb draw weight, she reached 180yds at a shoot a few weeks ago and won the womens category. Yesterday she shot the same arrow and the new one back to back with the new one reaching an additional 6yds each time. With a little more thinking / tinkering I reckon I can make her something capable of breaking the 200yd mark. To put that into some perspective, there's a lot of blokes can't reach 180yds with bows three times as heavy ... some people don't seem to understand aerodynmaics or the relationship between arrow and bow. I'll shut up now ... but it did cheer my Friday up.How far in total?

That sounds like a fair distance to me and getting an extra 6 yards is a 3% increase (?), which is great

I am still waiting to hear more about the rats

Been hit in the side of the face with a large tree limb that had partially snapped off in this weeks storm. Why would getting hit in the face with a very heavy piece of wood make you cheerful? Because I'm not dead

That ^^ is a lovely little bitch.
I've been introduced to a butty shop in Heald Green that does the nicest omelettes I've had in a long, long time.
Going to Heaton Hops later to drink coffee beers - a combination of two of my favouritest things: coffee, and beer.
Coffee beers.

I had a massive full english in the cafe next to work today which put a huge ruddy great smile on my tummy.

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.
Coffee-beer?? Sounds a bit hipster to me! Are there subcategories like "double skinny flat mocha frappe with legs IPA"? Still, I can't talk, my favourite beer "flavour" is toffee-vanilla.

Coffee beer? It may well be ‘a bit hipster ‘ but you can legitimately have it for breakfast
On a cheery note it’s friday, had another great week at my new job ( entertainment rigging) the highlight of which was a confetti cannon which came back accidentally in crate from Turkmenistan, naturally it was fired off in the workshop behind an unsuspecting employee
Also I’m in the woods Bam 12/12 is on target
I have some nice IPA
Looking back to October last year I was on Dunkery beacon almost exactly the same night, it’s been a very tough year in many respects but it’s got all cheery and not just on Friday, if your not cheery hang on in there a lot can change in a year
On an even cheerier note the bloody Ducks have finally gone to sleep

After my unfortunate hand/floor/car interface situation I've had word from LBS that frame n forks are still straight!
& Just got a call from the hospital, having surgery on my smashed hand tomorrow.
Sooner I've had the surgery sooner I'm back on the bike!
Also, the time off work will give me plenty of opportunity to build my newly acquired wtb scrapers up on my hubs.
Silver linings and all that.
